@TheOneDoc This is another peculiarity. MJG59 isn;t pro AI per se. BUT hates the code is art, angle of defense.ANOTHER thing you don't see writers in mass do; is referee on what is art or not. Even though some are much more technical and utilitarian in their craft than others.

I often think of the free software definition as kind of post-scarcity philosophical definition of property rights. Kind of in the tradition of other philosophical definitions of property, labor and value; but in a digital world where there is no resource scarcity.From that point of view, the free software definition can be seen as the minimum prerequisites one needs to have in order for a recipient to truly own or possess a piece of software as property.The problem is of course, while this is important foundational work. However, property rights are not the only ethical dimension of software. The FSF sometimes acknowledges this, which is why their work sometimes dips it's toes occasionally in other directions. They are a single organization. A number of years ago, there was a lot of movement around ethical licensing; with software licenses that looked a lot like FLOSS licenses but addressing other ethical concerns. Preventing governmental entities like ICE from using software to further their ends and such.These licenses were pretty divisive in the community for both violating the free software definition and potentially fragmenting license compatibility within the commons.From what I can tell the ethical licensing thing has settled down. AND im not convinced it was necessarily the right direction to take those concerns. HOWEVER, I don't know much has happened in the FLOSS community in the intervening years either; in terms of strategizing and executing alternatives, for those other moral concerns either. AND that feels like a wasted opportunity and room for community growth.

@Athena This depresses me greatly. LIKE Ive got no horse in this race with RUST; it's not a language ive bothered to learn. BUT I feel like this attitude is more or less where most large or even medium sized FLOSS projects are landing.

Ive got a couple of problems with PC gaming right now, in my grey matter:Ive been feeling less and less like giving valve my money.I've not been running operating systems conducive to PC gaming lately.The way the market is I don't see being able to justify a new GPU in the future.Im unlikely to be able to justify any future Valve hardware price wise.AND im kinda wondering if I should pack up PC gaming for a while.EDIT: Just feels like I should ride along with Nintendo, as long as they can keep producing the cheapest mainstream console.
