       I find myself on the market for a new phone. I also find myself at point where I can #deGoogle at an increased speed. My #AskFedi question, importantly, with this caveat: I'm NOT a programmer and have no affinity with 'computer touching' outside my digital sovereignty.If I want to go #FairPhone 6 with #Murene ICM with an acct with #ProtonMail , which frequently used apps might I run into trouble with? Any warnings for a tech noob?(I've already read Dutch banking apps work well)

       @erikcats No issues with Microsoft Authenticator, installed fine. I tested it against: https://2fas.com/auth/check-token and it scanned the QR code and could generate codes fine.

       @trashheap @erikcats   FYI, Microsoft will start blocking access to its authenticator app for android ROMs it doesn't like.https://www.theregister.com/2026/03/10/microsoft_authenticator_checks/"Microsoft Authenticator is not officially supported on GrapheneOS and Entra accounts may be impacted in the future on devices running GrapheneOS that are detected as rooted," a Microsoft spokesperson said. If you use it for work, you will need to make other arrangements.

       @erikcats @coraven Murena & /e/OS go through extra effort to appear as approved Android to apps, and are technically not rooted. BUT based on this article, whether or not Microsoft flags it or not as something Authenticator will not trust/like is hard to predict before July.

       @erikcats @coraven That being said /e/OS w/ my Fairphone did not trigger any warning like GrapheneOS did in this article. Which seems like a good indicator it may be fine?
