       A number of years ago, there was a lot of movement around ethical licensing; with software licenses that looked a lot like FLOSS licenses but addressing other ethical concerns. Preventing governmental entities like ICE from using software to further their ends and such.These licenses were pretty divisive in the community for both violating the free software definition and potentially fragmenting license compatibility within the commons.From what I can tell the ethical licensing thing has settled down. AND im not convinced it was necessarily the right direction to take those concerns. HOWEVER, I don't know much has happened in the FLOSS community in the intervening years either; in terms of strategizing and executing alternatives, for those other moral concerns either. AND that feels like a wasted opportunity and room for community growth.
