I spent my day off making this one, and I used a picture reference for the Yellow Ranger picture. There is still much to learn, especially with fingers, which really came out weird, and I ended up having to flip the png file so that way the elbow clipping would be on a better side. This is also the first time I've ever drawn a Power Ranger, and they are also the most color accurate to the #colorwheelchallenge (next to Sonic) since everyone else *has* the color for the slot, but don't strictly follow said color.Last one will be green.#colorwheelchallenge #digitalart #powerrangers #yellowranger #fanart

I had to scrap my current project because it was too flawed, but I did write a scene where a guy had to fight off six people in a dining room on an ocean liner. They were trying to kill him because of a 2 billion fedos bounty on his head. Very brutal and bloody scene with very little cover and a whole lot of improvisation. (Fedos is the currency of the Federation of Sol Systems; it has some inflation problems)

It's always been inverted for me. I'll like a character, complete the book, then hate the character. Same with movies, too. But for the sake of the prompt... the Principal from Captain Underpants is literally the only character I can think of.As a kid, you don't really like him because he's a big mean guy. But as an adult, you think about it, and reread it, and you realize that the story is told through the eyes of a couple of brats who are making a mess of the school at every opportunity. I'd hate those kids, too if I was the principal. There's also the whole brainwashing and turning him into a streaker thing, which I don't think he ever realized what was happening due to being mond scrambled, but I feel bad for the guy.

I digitally colored an old sketch of Lexia; which her design has been altered a bit from the original. I've got quite a bit more sketches of other characters from #HoboWarriorBunny, and the tablet makes it so much easier to do digital coloring/editing. So, I'll be working on those throughout the days/nights for practice reasons.#anthroart #anthro #furry #furryart

In Aarde, Nesschter's past failures come back to haunt him. The GSAU control of Gacerae was because of him, and they scrambled his memory so he could forget (his request. "Make me forget"). They scrambled his memory and turned him into an agent of Division 4. But even though he eventually turned against the GSAU and killed the Shio Branch director, his past actions still accumulated to him being forced to kill his brother (driven to insanity by Xajil, Nesschter's D4 boss) and be exiled into the forest by the rebels. The only reason he wasn't executed by the rebels was because he saved their Alpha's son; and the Alpha also recognized that Nesschter was tortured for the information and had his memory altered. But he still had to punish Nesschter for his role in the GSAU's ascension or risk a schism in the rebellion. He couldn't afford that, so he took exiling to spare Nesschter while punishing him at the same time.

I've had to do some house upgrades. Very expensive. The siding and windows were rotting out, totaling at $50k to get all of them replaced. I still have to do my crawlspace, too. Which will probably be another $15k if I go all in. Which means I need to do a cash out refinance on my house soon to get it all paid off in timely manner.

Good question. I think for me, it is financial stress effecting the writing. With my mind focused on bills, my brain shuts down on writing. I've done some sketching, but the writing has basically grounded to a halt to where I'm going over old incomplete fanfictions to alter for inspiration, and even then it is nothing special. I haven't even worked on episode 11 of Hobo Warrior Bunny or Aarde Part 2 or Winter 9. I figured once the financial strain is over I'll get something, but it'll be nice to have the financial stress resolved before NaNoWriMo.

Body damage. If they're a side character or expendable bad guy, sure, keep it realistic. But all my main protagonists are basically unkillable machines where they only register the amount of damage at the end. If I kept things realistic the stories would be very short. That said, they do go through a ringer and aren't invincible. They get bloodied and broken, but at the same time they are the manifestations of "too stubborn to die".

It's all about composure and their words. The more mature ones speak calmly, aren't energetic with their movements, and their words have weight to them. My favorite example of this is Khal Mason Jahrim from Aarde. He takes Balik's place as Alpha after Balik relinquishes control. Khal didn't want the power, but took it anyway for the good of the Gacerae Pack (he was highly valued by everyone). The immature ones would be energetic and reckless or violent. Viggo from Aarde is like this. He was always listening to music instead of paying attention to his surroundings, a bit rebellious, wore lots of jewelry, fooled around a lot (not shown, but referenced by Ara, including "you know you have to call ahead for group sessions"), and generally relied on him being the nephew of Jarvis, who was Balik's right hand man, for influence. He was a competent fighter and an excellent shooter, but him not paying attention and skirting Jarvis's orders is what gets him killed during an ambush.

Usually within a paragraph or a page, depending on the reader. Some readers are really charitable and read the whole first chapter to make their decision. For me, I try to make the opening paragraph interesting because it is the most important paragraph in the story. If that opening is not impressive, then readers will have a hard time sticking to the story.Examples:*) Vigilance: Trixie is on the back of an old truck, directionless and homeless*) Bon Voyage: Ethan is on a bus, heading to space to escape Oros despite hating space*) Aarde: Emphasizes Holden's commitment to his job with Division 4. Also the start of a raid*) The City of Clouds: World building about Cepheus City and Andromeda, gradually introduces Robin (paragraph 5)Character openings generally do better than world building, admittedly, but I love world building, and I'm hoping TCOC opening works well enough for the reader.

This is very true, I stopped reading the vast majority of stories on Royal Road because their openings were uninteresting. And while I do want to support independent authors, I've been browsing the Amazon previews of the books because I got tired of buying books that I did not enjoy. Being an indie writer shouldn't be a free pass to write shoddy work.

The Prancing Pony or Hogsmeade. Not really a fan of Harry Potter, but their food looks good. Prancing Pony is also for food reasons.

Literally everyone in Vigilance (still need to write a sequel for). Partly because it was based off a fan fiction that I wrote, so there's that nagging thought they are too similar to characters of an established IP. And partly because I wrote it for a friend-no-more who did not give a shit that I wrote it for them. So basically, continuing their story is a mental mess of paranoia and rage.

In Aarde, when Holden takes the N-Light pill he remembers that he is Nesschter and confronts his boss, Xajil. Xajil revealed that Nesschter wanted his memory manipulated so he could forget what he did to help the GSAU. Essentially, at that point in the story, Nesschter's shield of denial shatters; going from a loyal Division 4 Agent to an enemy of the state. He still blames Xajil for what happened (tortured him for information), but he stopped going by Holden, started going by Nesschter again, and accepted his punishment of exile after defeating Xajil. In the sequel that I'm sporadically working on, my goal is to expand on Nesschter trying to atone for what he did.

I want to write something that will be a good story. I have a list of story ideas, and my brain isn't working right, so it's difficult to write. Maybe I'll cough out something for NaNoWriMo though

Two out of three (and soon three out of four) stories have been young adventurers. Trixie Goodstrome and Ethan Rifts are in their mid-twenties when their stories happen, but Nesschter Norkit is more middle aged and is a veteran of both military and specialized internal security. The City of Clouds (set to be out on 14 December 2023) is mixed with half the protagonists being inexperienced and half having some informal training that has made them dangerous (all in their 20s, too). But I find writing inexperienced protagonists more entertaining and the reward of their growth more satisfying.
