@xerz > https://social.coop/@bengo@mastodon.social/110260470707688039My understanding from seeing lots of ecommerce transactions is that the "standard practice" is to charge the user only after the goods have been shipped. So depending on what boundaries you have in mind for successful transaction, does that qualify?

@liaizon yesterday(?) I listed the features I need for distributed economic networks:1. ability to cheaply and easily spin up new nodes in an economic network,, or2. the ability for a new node to start a new economic network, , and 2. the new nodes need the ability (but not the requirement) to communicate and coordinate with other nodes in their and possibly other networks.AP will provide those possibilities. Don't know about AT.

@piggo yup, looks like purslane. Used to volunteer in my garden around Chicago. We enjoyed it. Don't see it farther north.Do you plant it on purpose? Where do you get the seeds?

Ok trying again. @ckohtala @band @mike_hales @lynnfoster This is a new thread about the human relationships coordinating resource flows in economic networks. One angle I have observed, back from my work for Choreology around 2000 (this is one of the few signs that it ever existed: http://xml.coverpages.org/CohesionsV10-Announce.html ) is that coordinated networks of all kinds seem to need a coordinator. Somebody who responds to all participants in a decision thread leading to consensus.

@ckohtala @mike_hales @lynnfoster trying yet again to include @band And to finish that last thought for now, the coordinator role could be very temporary. Could be re-assigned in the midst of a decision thread, if need be. But there was always a coordinator who asked all of the other participants if they agreed or not and announced the decision (or failure to decide).

@ckohtala @mike_hales @lynnfoster @band One network we have been working with lately is https://www.newyorktextilelab.com/ in the Hudson River valley between New York state and New England. Laura Sansone seen down that page is the coordinator of the network. She and her partner Evan drove around in their pickup hauling wool, yarn, and knitted and woven textiles around the valley from one stage in the textile flows to another.

@ckohtala @mike_hales @lynnfoster @band The main roles in the network are farmer, wool cleaner, spinner, weaver or knitter, and the garment designer (who is usually the coordinator of all the other processes).Laura wants to get the other textile designers to coordinate their own flows. We're helping them to coordinate a software development team to help all that textile coordination to work.

@mike_hales @edsu @strypey @bonfire I first learned about Earthstar in SSB. I met some of the people mentioned in their https://earthstar-project.org/community/our-backers in SSB.But I have never tried Earthstar.I don't have a working SSB client that I like anymore and seldom visit, but I spent a lot of time there in prior years. We got pulled into SSB by Mikey Williams who created the https://www.valueflo.ws/ website.

@strypey Can you write up some ideas about what this should be and do? If so, I'll respond with a ValueFlows head design and we can discuss more from there.@sepheo @bonfire @lynnfoster @wu_lee @micke @loke @FediTips
