@alex Interestingly in the UK the politics have shifted so far to the right that those traditionally moderate left who stood their ground are looking now like far left. Ie Corbyn. The media are also exclusively on the right which means headlines about moderate policies are being screamed as if they are communist! The far right BNP have practically disappeared electorally because their voters have been absorbed by the Conservative & brexit party (essentially the same thing). Centrist parties have become conservative (in the old style). So there is no real "left socialist" parties in the UK anymore. It'll take a very long time to reorient UK politics back, if it ever does, away from far right ideology.

@WotNoKetchup @Lemondrizzle @alex Watched the very first episode of game of thrones and watched no more. As much as I love fantasy and action, I felt there was no call for the obvious gratuitous sex. Watched the first episode of Carnival Row and thought exactly the same. To me, it felt like they were trying to say 'oh this isn't a children's story... We're all grown up here' despite using children's story themes. It looked pathetic and all the swearing had the same effect.When they use animals in film they have a disclaimer about no animals were harmed... Women on the other hand, are easy meat.

@HebrideanHecate Holy shit. Gym I go to is open plan. There's one room they use for classes that's separate. I go early in the morning so there's not that many of us. About 5 or 6 blokes and about 4 or 5 women mixed ages. But I can say the bloke that owns it would make short work of anyone who harassed anybody for whatever reason. And toilets and cubicles are floor to ceiling self contained. Off now to pump some iron šŖ

@Hildegarde_de_Bingen @Hildegarde_de_Bingen If its about attraction, then if someone has never been attracted to the opposite sex at any time in their lives, despite the enormous pressures of home, church, society etc... how does that come about? It's easy to date someone from the opposite sex especially as a young person. To conform to expectations of family and society. To choose to be a lesbian seems absurd in those circumstances. For many, choosing to be a lesbian lead to violence, ostricisation and emotional abuse. I'm talking about less enlightened times where the term lesbian was a dirty word unlike now. And yet women came out as lesbians and took the shit that was thrown at them.Coming out wasn't a process of choosing to be a lesbian, it was saying I am a lesbian. I have had to keep it a secret up until now but I'm not hiding anymore. I am stating that from this moment onwards I will show to the world that I am proud to be a lesbian. That's the pride that we hold and unfortunately it has been watered down and lost its impact in recent times.

If something is "single sex" then anyone who is not of that sex is excluded. So therefore it's nothing to do gender and nothing to do with trans people. How can stonewall order any organisation or business to allow trans people into single sex spaces when those spaces have nothing to do with gender?
