@Chronic-Yonic You know the one upside to this is that due to Covid, I’m at home all of the time. It was lovely to have him with me during lockdown (it’s just me and him!)I’d hate to have to go out to work and leave him right now. I’m glad I can be here to give him rubs and comfort.

@Chronic-Yonic No, we’re in palliative care territory. He also has an enlarged heart (a consequence of a heart murmur he’s had since he was a kitten). I had a cat a number of years ago who contracted feline AIDS. Her last days were me trying to get tablets down her throat, and her vigorously resisting with every last bit of strength she had. I promised myself that I wouldn’t do that again. I’ll do everything I can to make him comfortable, and enjoy the time I have left with him, and when he’s no longer comfortable, I will do the decent thing and let him go. 💔

@life_as_a_bug Thanks bugsy. I aim to make his remaining time as comfortable as possible, but if he’s in pain or distress, to let him go. He’s been my buddy for a long time, and much as I don’t want to lose him, I don’t want to let him suffer.

@Nora In work a few years ago, I had to try to explain to someone that no matter how well worded the official letter is, if your financial situation is precarious, just the sight of the letter will freak you out. I hope your head stays above water.

@Nora I hope your health is better now Nora?The letter I was referring to was actually a letter about reviewing access to free healthcare - so as you can well imagine, there is no way of wording that kind of letter that wouldn’t totally stress the recipient out. But unfortunately, not everyone gets that.

@Nora Well one of the things that would have helped at the time was a bit of clear communication from government (as well of course as less gutting of healthcare funding). But hey ho, they were convinced it was all about the wording of the bloody letter!
