       Just remembered that in elementary school, when I was taught about animals, I was taught that there were six groups of them, namely mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.Which is kind of wild, because it's completely wrong. I understand that there's a limit to how deep you can go into taxonomy with young kids but like damn This would have been a great time to *not* cultivate anthropocentrism into the young fertile minds of tomorrow's decision-makers.

       @fribbledom For a while before I had to pay bills using online services I had a "pure" CLI setup, running barebones distros without X installed. Was pretty cool, had a command line application for just about anything. Even wrote a novel using a text-based word processor called wordgrinder.It was surprising how much you could still see of the web using elinks, I could even use facebook 😂 Unsurprisingly banking was out of the picture though, I had to borrow my mom's windows laptop to do that.

       @itsfoss I have no practical evidence to back this up but I've always disabled the swap partition on my linux installs, specifically to avoid wearing down the SSD.No idea whether that makes a real difference but I feel like it probably does, never wore out an SSD and my current one went through three laptops 😆When I run out of RAM the system bogs down, but I can usually switch to tty2, start htop and kill something. On occasion it bogs down too hard and I give up though.
