@heyrochelle @donkey @runoutgroover Apparently what's in the contract is that they have the right to force him to actually pay $44B.They don't *want* him to actually buy it at this point of course, but seems like they can use that as leverage to get a hell of a settlement. *And* it sounds like the court this would go through is more like months than years.Keep the popcorn out is what I'm hearing.

@JimmyKip https://www.jamendo.com/ -- I found them a while back when looking for Creative Commons-licensed music. Since then they've also added some stuff they can license out for eg background music in shops but there's still a whole bunch that's free-and-legal to just listen to on their site.

@BobReynard Depends what you mean by non-commercial:1) The software's open-source so if one server charges (in fact some do) others will still be free to use. And anyone can start up their own.2) Yes, businesses will get accounts and try to spam. But then either their server will kick them off, or other servers will block their server.My main issue with sign-up is it's easy for people to skip seeing the server rules. I believe that's going to be fixed in the next update.

@Daveosaurus Important note about Mastodon's DMs:a) they're in the post's visibility settings, named "Mentioned people only", butb) that means they're not exactly DMs: as soon as you mention someone - like the troll you want name - they can see the message....Yes, even if you've previously blocked them!!So if you do want to DM about someone else, leave the @ out of their handle!(Also technically server admins can read any DM, but mostly they're too busy.)@hilarymcam @pepperraccoon

@smollestbunny Yes, some servers have closed for new people. mastodon.nz I think set sign-up to approval-required for a while (not sure if that's still on) to slow down the influx. Admins of each server make their own decision based on their own capacity. @strypey

@Bleyddyn Correct that you can only add people you follow. In my interface, from their profile there's a "..." menu with "Add or remove from lists". If you add them straight after you follow them then sometimes the server hasn't quite confirmed that you do follow them (especially if they're on a different server) so you get that 404 error. Trying again in a couple of minutes is usually fine.@bnlawrence

Please spell Elon Musk's name correctly.No, I'm not an apologist, it's not about respect. (Though an argument could be made about respecting people's names even if we hate the person!) I just want my filters to work so I don't have to read anything about him, and when you do a new creative misspelling of his name I have to be reminded he exists again.

Ah my router is doing the thing again where it happily sends through all mastodon.nz traffic but I can't reach any other websites.<poke> Ah, actually it's allowing traffic to any website where I've got a window open with a real-time connection: Protonmail and Youtube also work.But non-live websites don't work eg I have a Spinoff article open but I can't load any other Spinoff page.This is clearly a Clue. But I still don't know what to do with it other than turn my router off and on again.

So once a week I visit friends and alternate providing mains or dessert. Their child is probably ADHD so I try to at least *somewhat* cater to his preferences, and one parent is trying to reduce gluten-stuff after a health scare, which obviously fine, I'll do my best there too. This is the kind of absolutely unrealistic nonsense I have to put up with from my peach tree. It might be one thing if it bore little blood peaches but it has absolutely giant fruit, if I left all these on then the branches would break and the remainder would rot. So am busy today pruning and thinning the heck out of this monstrosity.
