@amolith you don't need a work mgmt framework for two people. It's just unnecessary overhead at this point. Find a good, frequent cadence for syncing up with your friend, and ask yourselves occasionally if it's still working for you both, and tweak accordingly.Similarly, put work in progress in front of the client frequently (I'd start with something like every two weeks). Check you're all happy with that, and adapt to suit everyone's needs...

@amolith ...You've probably got lots of things to do, so focus on getting one thing 100% done first, rather than a few things to 80%. In terms of testing, my principle is usually:* Make it work (hacky is fine)* Make it right (add tests and documentation)* Make it better (optimize and refine)I've been working with these basic rules for almost 30 years, from solo projects to big enterprise jobs. It works for me. 😁

@textfiles my first introduction to the joy of midi was a bootleg midi version of "eye in the sky" that I could use on my Atari ST and was so excited that I could change the instruments played via my Yamaha SY55. I didn't hear a recording of it until many years later (didn't know what it was called!) and it was magic to hear the original.

@simon No research, but after an afternoon of 'playing' with Chat GPT, I had worked out it's limitations.My takeaway, and note of optimism, is that people will be able to 'smell' bot-generated text quite easily. Whether they'll care is another discussion.

People want to be where their friends are. Federation and sticking it to big business is not gonna drive the numbers.

@benpate but it's not what it can do, it's who's there. I'm on FB for old school friends I want to humblebrag to, and my mum uses it. I'm on Insta for my arty maker friends. I'm on YouTube because I like baking videos, and TikTok because it's funny. It's _Social_ media, emphasis on social. Bring the audience, bring people as one. Make it super easy to set up a server for you and your friends. Let federation happen quietly, and the decay of big tech will come for free.
