While I generally advise patients to be open and honest with their healthcare providers, there are definitely situations where it may be necessary to mislead them for your own safety.It’s very unfortunate to say, but the law forces healthcare providers to harm their patients in certain situations (eg, mandatory reporting). And, in other situations, healthcare providers are simply ignorant and unintentionally intervene harmfully.If you are in a vulnerable position where you’re at risk of being harmed by an ignorant or legally coerced healthcare provider, it may be best to keep some things to yourself.

@mommyDepends what you mean by ‘behind bars’. In a progressive country like Sweden, perhaps. In the most countries, however, incarceration is incredibly damaging to physical and mental health.

@Zest @support_ex_offendersUnder US law, it’s impossible to view sexual media of children without being in possession of it, which is illegal. If you can see it on your computer, that means it has been downloaded onto your computer, even if it’s only been downloaded temporarily in order for you to view it on a webpage and you never actually save it to your storage.

People in the US have been sentenced for possessing non–realistic fictional sexual imagery, and US databases of illegal images include non–realistic fictional images as well.

@comrade_lecter @elliotNo map should ever support an organisation like Prostasia that believes minor attraction is an inherently negative thing that needs to be changed. We’d be better off without them if that’s the belief they want to stick to. If they wish to regain my respect and the respect of many maps, they need to change the way they view minor attraction.

Prostasia ignores science, ignores evidence–based prevention strategies, supports police, supports incarceration and perpetuates a pathological view on minor attraction.‘Hate group’ or not, they’ve said some incredibly ignorant and hateful things. I’m sure I’m not the only map activist who has seen numerous antis talk about how ‘nothing good can come from paedophilia’ and how ‘maps need to cure their paedophilia’, which are basically the same things Prostasia has said and is continuing to defend.That all needs to change if they wish to regain my respect and the respect of many maps. If they aren’t willing to change their beliefs, then we’d be better off without them as far as I’m concerned.
