@hehemrin Easier portability of software, so it doesn't get locked in.One builds one flatpak, and everyone can use it.One builds a .deb for Ubuntu and people have to take it and patch, fix and maintain it for other distros, if they do.Also the potential for a distro to include flatpak with their custom made repo with a secure permission default for apps included is very good thing to look forward to IMO.

@killyourfm yeah but it's the first thing game companies announce when they're working on new games. I bet it's needed.

@charadon even better to use opensnitch and after 20 minutes then have the revolutionary idea that firewalls on private desktop PCs are a useless headache.

@Codeberg I certainly love installing Lutris and Heroic without getting my system infested by wine icons and entries all over the place, not to mention how easy it is to get whatever I want on there no matter what distro I'm on, cant say that for "official" distro repos. The sandbox functionality is the last thing I think about when using flatpak, I mainly care about ease of access and distribution, and it certainly already delivers on both.

@killyourfm a lot of projects assume gnome-keyring because of encryption format differences AFAIK, also GNOME is the default on every mainline distro outhere.

@killyourfm @kde the first thing I do for years on new plasma installs is to run$ balooctl disableThat memory leak has been around for a minimum of 6 years. Granted "tracker" on GNOME can be rough sometimes but it recovers and doesn't hit the same absurd levels as baloo.

@lowqualityfacts he couldn't leave because of the fungus, good thing the US government cloned him for the game awards. I'm certain there are subliminal messages within those few minutes, so much of them in fact, it would reveal the truth about both flat earth and the magnetic poles, such a hidden gem. I bet there's a hidden tucked big reason his initials are PP too.

@alexelcu I'm sorry but if your interpretation of innovation and improvement by work of volunteers is something negative, you're just not as smart as you might think you are.Post is felled with buzzwords and negative nonsense, no one is forcing you to use anything and to cut off the rest, use what works for you, keep getting abused by your corporate gods and leave us community maintainers be, people like you should quit nagging about how awful their skills are. Smile.

@alexelcu there's no criticism within your post, it's nagging, throwing buzzwords like snap and Wayland hoping to pile on negative attention, you clearly don't know the difference between nagging and criticism. It's bad manners.

@alejandrobdn it's always hilarious to me whenever I see these benchmarks, there are so many variables here that I'm not so sure a conclusion should be made this easily.
