@tomjennings Agreed. I've tried over the years to look at it semi-regularly. I just can't.Aside from the occasionally decent(Dan Goodin, perhaps??) security article, it's just too... glossy, mainstream for me. I'm not their audience and that's OK.I've mostly tossed it into the bin with the likes of old-timey PCMag, ZDNet/CNet, etc. At least it's not Information Week or Network World...#TechFluff

@tomjennings No kidding. I really need to go back and re-read the Illuminatus Trilogy(or Foucault's Pendulum) to try and re-capture some of that old-timey fun.R.I.P. Robert Anton Wilson. I often wish he were still with us to read his takes on contemporary events.

@tomjennings @vga256 Filters, lists, and the ability to selectively mute some user's boost are a life-saver here, and allow me to curate my feed.Most(not all) of my filters are set to "hide with a warning" rather than "hide completely".So, with a topic such as AI, which are ~99% useless, to me, I hide. For folks like Timnet, Emily Bender, and Simon Willison(sp?) who I find useful & informative on the subject, I have created a separate list for them and browse once or twice a month. YMMV.

Came out to my deck, today, & saw about 12 apparant law enforcement officers meandering in the apartment complex parking lot. They were wearing tactical vests with various labels: #Police #DEA Customs & Border Patrol #CBP. They seemed to be wrapping something up; although they had no one in custody. Seemed pretty relaxed as they removed their vests.Fucking terrifying. My apt. complex is mostly immigrants and I fear for them.#Immigration #pnw #LynnwoodWA
