@kev @jlelse Kev, I'll say the same about your site https://kevq.uk/ Many excellent articles, e.g., why you should have your own domain, Raspberry Pi 3+, Nextcloud on shared hosting, home server articles, Mastodon, etc. Just came across your content thanks to a boost by @caltlgin

@masterofthetiger I don't know what happened, in addition to the other mentioned closings their Twitter account is closed too. The archive.org Wayback Machine has much of their site saved: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://switching.social

@kev Re your excellent blog article https://kevq.uk/how-to-install-nextcloud-on-shared-hosting I'm considering doing this, but am wondering about how to do upgrades (e.g., nextcloud just had one from 16.0.4 to 16.0.5, and v17 coming next)The setup-nextcloud.php script is apparently only for a new install. If it detects an existing install, it aborts with the message: "You cannot use this script to update existing installations."But once installed, do you know if the web updater feature works on a shared hosting setup?

@kev Very interesting post. Great to hear about Betty's recovery after that long tense period of uncertainty. A nice read about the thoughtful and careful interventions that possibly made the difference.I'm curious about the bonding behavior of these fish with their owner. Could you say a little about what's different in their behavior before and after bonding and the differences they display toward you vs others?

@kev Feedback:I'm a techie and do want to read your articles about bloggingI'm a (minimal) blogger and do want to read your articles about your motorbikes and fishkeeping. Also, you only blog about them occasionally, so I don't see any problem.I hope you keep blogging on diverse topics like these, and including them on one blog is fully OK, IMO.

@emanuel Yeah, I just saw you kindly put the source code for the site on github, so thanks for that. So now at least two of my favorite site designs are from fosstodon people, yours and the blog by @kev. Two very different designs, both very nicely done.

@emanuel @kev Yeah, really good post by Kev on typography, definitely one I've bookmarked for reference. (aside: I hope his fish are doing ok, haven't seen any recent posts about them). Thanks for mentioning about the migration to Codeberg, I didn't know about that. Something I'd like to mention that I didn't think to include earlier - your use of color on your blog is really striking. Congrats on just a super job.

@kev @emanuel Nice to hear they're doing well. The new fire eel coexists in the same tank as the Oscar(s)? Photos? 😀

@amolith Thanks for your toot on the Predestination film (I'm pretty sure it was you, tho I can't find original toot right now). I put it on my watch list and saw it yesterday. Great performances by Hawke and Snook and a very intriguing film. Only followed maybe 70% of the plot, definitely need to rewatch and check reviews for better understanding. Anyway, I appreciate your mentioning it.

@mcnees Very interesting set of stories and their classification! Reminds me of this other work which I like:The emotional arcs of stories are dominated by six basic shapes: https://arxiv.org/abs/1606.07772The six narrative arcs in fiction: https://aeon.co/ideas/when-the-stories-add-up-the-six-narrative-arcs-in-fiction Side note to @simon - you might enjoy the site McNees mentioned as another example of an interesting somewhat niche data collection (http://www.mftd.org/index.php?action=atu) that's much fun as is your own Niche Museums site at https://www.niche-museums.com/

@simon @mcnees 😃😄 👏 Damnnnn fun!But also, I was impressed with the wise counsel and grasp of cautionary nuance it stated in the last paragraph of your excerpt (and especially the last sentence):"However, remember that this categorization is a creative interpretation and doesn't strictly align with the traditional use of the ATU classification system. It's essentially a playful way of linking modern narratives with traditional folklore motifs."
