If you haven’t found your Sunday night rabbit hole yet, take a look at the Aarne-Thompson-Uther Classification of Folk Tales. It’s like a Dewey decimal system for legends, tall tales, and folklore.http://www.mftd.org/index.php?action=atu

@mcnees Very interesting set of stories and their classification! Reminds me of this other work which I like:The emotional arcs of stories are dominated by six basic shapes: https://arxiv.org/abs/1606.07772The six narrative arcs in fiction: https://aeon.co/ideas/when-the-stories-add-up-the-six-narrative-arcs-in-fiction Side note to @simon - you might enjoy the site McNees mentioned as another example of an interesting somewhat niche data collection (http://www.mftd.org/index.php?action=atu) that's much fun as is your own Niche Museums site at https://www.niche-museums.com/

@simon @mcnees 😃😄 👏 Damnnnn fun!But also, I was impressed with the wise counsel and grasp of cautionary nuance it stated in the last paragraph of your excerpt (and especially the last sentence):"However, remember that this categorization is a creative interpretation and doesn't strictly align with the traditional use of the ATU classification system. It's essentially a playful way of linking modern narratives with traditional folklore motifs."

@simon @jrdmb That’s one of the more impressive responses I’ve seen.
