I have been telling for almost 5 years that Mozilla and Red Hat are just pure evil. Mozilla is starting to show their true colours. I use Librewolf but I am pretty concerned about how Mozilla's crap will impact their forks and the lack of alternatives. Or maybe the web is just pure Google's spoiled shit and we just cannot do anything.

@mangeurdenuage The last sentence is the key. In my own experience every time I told people about freedom and tried to convince them to move to GNU only one person followed my advice, in that time I was a so annoying GNU evangelist and I could only convince one person. Now I try to convince as much as people to avoid Big techs craps, especially regarding security and privacy, I even offered my support and nobody has listened to me yet. Many people just don't care and that's so sad. In Spain many people assume you have WhatsApp installed and many companies started to promote their services by using that app, excluding people who does not have a mobile phone or do not want to install that crap. So, yeah I agree with you in this. In the end no matter how much those companies are evil if people keep using those abusive services.

If the banner says "We care about your privacy" and you see the word "partners" it normally means "We don't give a shit about your privacy".

@Duckbill4994 @debian In the corporative world it seems that systemd has already taken over the ecosystem. Just try to install Proxmox in Devuan and you will see what I am talking about. So if we keep letting systemd doing whatever they want in the future we will have problems in the desktop too. In addition we are seeing a trend to rewrite common tools with permissive licenses just to favour the corp interests. So we will have a brilliant future.

I don't get surprise that Gnome's people are the one who are promoting this crap:https://mastodon.social/@alatiera/114398757700546625"Don't package my software""Don't theme my app""Don't do this"The excuse is always the same "because normies want the shit works" but in my opinion this is a red flag because they aim to a model similar than Google's and Apple where they centralized everything in a single repository and have control on everything. A good example is the fucking Mozilla, they prefer flatpak because they can deliver Firefox with their telemetry crap and many distros maintainers just disable by default. I believe that if you want GNU/Linux to become like Windows or MacOS there is not point to have a "cheaper copy" then I prefer to use the proprietary crap directly. Don't let those people steal your freedom of choose.

@GrapheneOS The banking app "Mibancolombia" seems to ban GrapheneOS. I rated the app with 1 star in the playstore but something I found weird it's that it seems that they are no using the "Play integrity" API. So I don't understand how they are banning GrapheneOS. The attached screenshot translates something like:"Security is our priority. We will close the app because we found out insecure conditions in your cellphone". I just cancelled this service anyway but it seems the number of apps banning OS like you are increasing.

@mangeurdenuage @GrapheneOS What is really concerning me it's that these "integrity" checks are forcing us step by step to use more proprietary and nasty crap.I said OK, I will use the web page, then I couldn't login because I needed the mobile app, which does not work. I rated with 1 star in the play store and they replied me something like "Please write us to give you support in X, Instagram and Facebook" and I don't have any of those fucking social media. Nowadays many people assume.1. Everybody uses Android or IOS.2. Everybody has WhatsApp. 3. Everybody has social media like X, Instagram or Facebook. Website + standard TOTP should be enough for most cases but they insist in making our life harder.

@redstarfish systemd, Gnome and maybe Wayland are the cancer in the FLOSS world and Red Hat is like the King Midas but everything they touch become shit instead of gold.

Can we come to the conclusion that Red Hat only want to have a system that they and only they can control? https://blogs.gnome.org/adrianvovk/2025/06/10/gnome-systemd-dependencies/Please don't let those people take the control of the desktop ecosystem. "Free to choose" has always been one of the killer features of GNU/Linux desktop and those people are trying to kill it.

@paul Yeah, Gnome has been quite problematic in non-systemd distros, now it will be unusable. I don't use Gnome nor systemd and I personally avoid any Red Hat software but I have been forced to use systemd in many scenarios in the corporative world because of their crappy dependencies.

@alatartheblue I don't give a shit about Gnome and Red Hat as soon as they do their craps for themselves, I hate when they interfere in other projects and step by step they are becoming the facto standard. An example of this was when systemd wanted to add systemd and "Linux" only code in tmux:https://github.com/tmux/tmux/issues/428Gladly they didn't accept that abomination. I just want them to keep their crap for themselves if that's the case I don't mind but I know they are causing more upstream and downstream issues. In my personal computer I use Hyprland as well, a non-systemd distro and avoid Gnome and Red Hat's crap but in the servers I barely have choice. I choose GNU/Linux mainly because it's not Mac and is not Windows. To have a mediocre copy of those OS by forcing me to use their tools I would rather keep using the original proprietary crap.

@phnt >So what GNU/Linux users should do?> First, consider using Windows. It sounded exactly as many replies when I asked to work with GNU/Linux instead of Windows in any company.

@mangeurdenuage @SuperDicq @usagi I read the grapheneos debate and I believe they are wrong (I have a phone with grapheneos BTW). The ideal scenario is a upgradeable firmware but if the firmware is 100% free software, that scenario sadly does barely exists. In my current experience we used to have some HP printers in one of my old jobs, then HP sent a firmware upgrade as security upgrade and all they did was lock the printer to use their cartridges, so we couldn't use cartridges from other manufacturers. Is that considered a "security upgrade"? I don't think so.

@SuperDicq @mangeurdenuage I am not sure about it but I am getting errors in Pachli when I try to see his account. I thought that maybe the instance has blocked his instance but I can see messages from other people from that instance so maybe he just blocked me or maybe there is an error.

@mangeurdenuage @SuperDicq Well, I barely block or mute someone but these are the tools we have to moderate ourselves. If you are not in a proper mental state it is ok to mute him.

@caleb Hola, mil gracias por avisarme. Había renovado los certificados hace una semana aproximadamente peto se me había olvidado reiniciar el servicio, quizás por eso no tomó los cambios. Ya debería estar funcionando.
