Interesting how things turn out. With #neovim v0.6 lua became first class citizen and I had rather high hopes. But real life is real life, I simply have no time to dive into the whole neovim lua ecosystem which seems is very vibrant and very much in flux right now. On top of that my usage of neovim has drastically dropped lately. It still is my $EDITOR, but I only use it for git commits and quick edits. For longer edit sessions there are other tools in my arsenal right now.

@SonoMichele I'm not happy about it, but I write code in #vscodium. I write text in #kateeditor

@sotolf @SonoMichele At this point I think I will let ecosystem settle. I guess it will take a year at least to crystalize stable plugins and approaches. Frankly speaking at this point configuring lua scrips looks like a nightmare, and as I mentioned - I simply have no time and energy to spend on this. I have setup that works, it is not ideal, but at least I get shit done.

@kevin @xpil came to say exactly this. Good old tar pipe over ssh. I recall even doing dd over ssh to do whole file system snapshot once.

@kev Hmm ... I do not see a huge issue with your reaction in this situation. Just wondering in hindsight - what you thing should have been a better way to approach the situation?

@kev The fact that you have reflected on events speaks volumes. So no need to torture yourself. I think your reaction was pretty natural. And thanks for great writeup! @pabloitse

I keep hearing russians complaining that collective punishment is not fair. How dare you?! Your problems are insignificant compared to children being murdered. At best - it's inconvenience. So, shut the fuck up!

@werwolf I empathize with the opinion that ordinary people are not to blame, but I do not agree with it. I've followed russian TV pretty closely up until 2014. The amount of WW2 themes movies and TV shows on air and produced was astounding. It almost seemed like public opinion were being engineered in preparation of something. People have folklorised regime and corruption - so far so that it became on of russian idiosyncrasies. 1/2@sotolf

@adam Well, guess what, you can even do `systemctl cat service_file` to see all the contents of systemd service file. 🤯 And I do not think it's a problem. Don't put sensitive stuff in service files! Also, from security point of view - once attacker gains unprivileged shell - the battle is already lost. There is always some priv-escalation exploit available, just look around ;)

@kev I think these kind of people need to be told to their faces they are sociopaths that need a medical attention. Good thing this is not part of culture and core values in Europe.

@veer66 My question would be why there is such a trend? From what I can tell being in industry quite some time only after 30y of age people start to show wisdom and I am sure stakeholders are aware of it also in Thailand. So my conclusion is they want <30y olds for simple reason - they are easier to exploit (no kinds, family, easy to boss around) and the discard. If so ... run, run from this system as far as you can!

@atoponce (not trying to defend Bram) Another thing to consider - vim is his baby. His project. If at least on of the reasons he keeps at it is fun - then it probably is up to him to implement features the fun way (by his standards). Ofc, that is very egocentric view and I can't imagine doing/dragging one project for so long and still finding motivation to do it.

Stumbled on Organic Maps application https://organicmaps.app. As alternative to OSMAnd this one looks light, fast and somehow aesthetically pleasing. Still uses OSM as data source. Anyone using, any feedback?Looking at GitHub repo issues - this seems very "vibrant" project ;)

@TechXero @array @lopeztel OK, fixed. That reminds me to have rescue USB stick around. And some notes on arch install, because I do not recall by heart those.
