Interesting how things turn out. With #neovim v0.6 lua became first class citizen and I had rather high hopes. But real life is real life, I simply have no time to dive into the whole neovim lua ecosystem which seems is very vibrant and very much in flux right now. On top of that my usage of neovim has drastically dropped lately. It still is my $EDITOR, but I only use it for git commits and quick edits. For longer edit sessions there are other tools in my arsenal right now.

@SonoMichele I'm not happy about it, but I write code in #vscodium. I write text in #kateeditor

@jb @SonoMichele If it works for you i guess, nvim is just way more comfortable to me, and I'm also really quite excited about the whole lua thing in it, with anisseed you can also use a more comfortable language to write plugins for it :) I'm not the biggest fan of plain lua.

@sotolf @SonoMichele At this point I think I will let ecosystem settle. I guess it will take a year at least to crystalize stable plugins and approaches. Frankly speaking at this point configuring lua scrips looks like a nightmare, and as I mentioned - I simply have no time and energy to spend on this. I have setup that works, it is not ideal, but at least I get shit done.

@jb @sotolf I think you should go for what makes you productive, I recently left neovim (NvChad) and started using doom eMacs which basically just works. I didn’t want to lose like 30 minutes every time I wanted to cose because neovim plug-ins broke

@SonoMichele @jb you have to use very different plugins than me, I haven't had a single of mine break yet ;)

@sotolf @jb I’ve been using NvChad https://github.com/NvChad/NvChad and started making some custom configs and I couldn’t easily update it anymore, things broke real bad and I didn’t wanted to fix them in that period. I still use it for faster and smaller edits but I need vim key binds everywhere

@SonoMichele @jb yeah I'd not use a preconfig like that its bound to be unstable bloated slow and have loads of stuff you never use.

@sotolf @jb I started using it because I didn’t want to learn lua to configure my editor but that’s personal and everyone can do how they feel better. I decided to go for NvChad because it loads instantly and is like a minimal config from which you can extend, you can disable plugins you don’t use and you can add plugins you want easily in the latest versions from what I recall

@SonoMichele @jb you don't have to learn lua to configure nvim, I have mine in vimL I looked at it, and it's far from minimal, I'm running vim for near to 20 year and my config never broke to the point it took longer than 10 min to sort out.
