@selea what is the status? Is it still running without hanging? Asking for a friend that wants to buy it, but got sceptical when I mentioned the hangs.

@selea awesome, people have had the issue for years. I guess this will roll into the official release at some point, and perhaps people can get the router they paid for

@selea I actually got 4.0.6 through the official channel last night on my UDM Pro, perhaps they finally released it.Memory usage dropped from 65% to 50%, but that might be due to the reboot.CPU usage has been stable at 10% before and after.

@selea I have the dream machine pro.My interest in the dream router is as a recommendation to friends and family. It sounds like a great proposition on paper compared to a home router in the same price range. Then I saw your post and became a bit sceptical. The dream machine pro is awesome, but the lack of built in wifi, and the rack based design makes it less useful to home users with a small apartment.

@ljs @imrehg funny how most memory safe languages people use run on C or C++

I just had a strange thing happen to me. A single perspective from @TechConnectify completely blew my mind and made me see how hostile the fediverse can be.For years I had the impression that the fediverse is filled with nice people and is a great place to be. More recently I have come to understand it is a pretty bad place for some, and due to how the technology works, this side is hidden from me, so I just have to take their word for it (which I do).Today I realized there is another side to this. Since I came in with curiosity early in 2022 I spent some time watching and learning. I saw how newbies were put in place early on every time they stepped on one of the many "landmines". This taught me to never do the same things myself. This list of things to "never ever do in the fediverse" was subconsciously added to my knowledge before my first post. Thus I avoided being ridiculed from day one.The list includes, but is not limited to:* Saying something positive about a company or product that makes money* Using a product or platform that has an AI feature* Using ChatGPT* Creating an AI generated image* Linking to a page owned by a corporation* Linking to a YouTube video* Not having, or forgetting ALT text* Posting a fun image of unknown origin* Spelling out Twitter, Elon, or MuskThis is how FOSS mailing lists work. And it is why I never have, and most likely never will contribute to a "good old FOSS project". If you send an email and get any of the 100 unwritten rules about style wrong, you are flamed, and your opinion is completely ignored. And before you conclude that other places are just as bad, consider this: On Twitter you are bombarded by trolls that either don't know any better or just want to hurt you. On the fediverse you are bombarded by seemingly well meaning highly intelligent people. It just hurts more that way. It's a shame, I used to love the fediverse. Now, I don't know anymore.

@selea you should try @pachli . Especially since they solved the long standing scrolling issue in Tusky

@gabrielesvelto so, can we see this on the number of active cars going down? Or are all these being bought by future car owners that skip buying their first car? In which case, I guess we should see the total number of cars sold going down?

@BrodieOnLinux because they can’t really offer most of the browsers people use in that list?So in practice you would get a choice between a bunch of browsers you don’t want, so you can use it to figure out how to download the one you want

@BrodieOnLinux looking at arch for example. Only those in the pacman repo would be listable in an installer. Presumably other distros have similar lists.

@BrodieOnLinux when your train is about to drive of a cliff edge, and the momentum is such that it’s too late to change anything. Is it better to have fun until it happens, or panic?

@BrodieOnLinux I will never understand why people say C/C++. They are two distinct languages. C code does not compile in the C++ compiler.Especially when ranking languages. Nobody writing C writes C++, and vice versa.I know C++ started out as a preprocessor that generated C files, but that hasn’t been true for decades.

The switch 2 bundle should be $499, but the Swedish importer selling it in Norway decided a more suitable price is $739.It is weird, especially since I can just drop by Germany and get it for €509.99 or 5800,- NOK.Perhaps it’s a good thing, as I won’t be tempted to buy one on a whim like I did either the OLED switch at 4000,- NOK#switch2 #norway #nintendo

@BrodieOnLinux I guess there is little hope for that as long as Microsoft supports SysWOW64, and even if they drop it. Having a viable 32bit platform for old games would still be desirable

@BrodieOnLinux because of the state Intel is in now, the money people takes over. They look at a thing, ask if it is important to their goal of surviving, and axe it immediately if not.My two cents anyway

@BrodieOnLinux so, is the puzzle solved? Could it be as simple as people watching a YouTube video without having the browser window active?
