@aral I get those all the time and I don’t run an ad blocker. I run a tracker blocker, which they “confuse” with an ad blocker. Tells me what they’re really concerned with.

@thomasfuchs @donmelton I had a terse email exchange with the people behind a certain popular crm/blogging system a number of years ago. I wrote to complain that they didn't prominently link the release notes for each new release and it was a number of steps to find them. That made it a hassle to go look and see if the release covered issues I would have and thus made it worth installing and testing. They responded that "most of our users just want to run the most current thing.”🙄

@MikeTRose @glennf @nickheer In my more generous moments I think “well, usb3 requires notably more wires and that’s weight and waste when it’s not what the cable is for” but the lack of any labeling makes it super crappy to deal with. I marked all mine with a label maker but it’s just a matter of time till they get pulled off.

Unless you increase displacement all you get from more cylinders is more friction surface area!Never mind the fact that electric is capable of SO much more speed than IC engines anyway, almost without trying.

@ZachWeinersmith I’m inclined to be okay with the position “saying your religion is the only correct one is Bad” but I think you’re right to conclude that if this is antisemitic then everything is.Certainly “Jews are wrong because they don’t recognize Jesus as the savior” underpins a lot of justifications for antisemitism. But if we buy it as antisemitic then is judeaism’s “Jesus was a prophet but not the son of god” anti-Christian?

@ZachWeinersmith It feels to me like all negative terminology has this trajectory. In an advice column in the WashPost the other day a woman wrote about her ex-husband who declared he wouldn’t stay in his marriage if she kept a pregnancy, then stuck to that. Since then he’s (whiningly) paid his child support but had no contact or interest in parenting.A real shitbird, but the term that was used repeatedly was “deadbeat dad,” which to me means “doesn’t pay,” not “absent & not participating.”
