@Gina Nice! Years ago (10 maybe?) I started configuring my work-provided laptop with the cheapest HDD and lowest RAM possible (spending my budget on harder to replace components like processor and screen), and upon receipt would immediately swap in the biggest SSD and as much RAM as I could afford. It's been all ThinkPads here, fortunately, so easy hardware swaps and great Linux compatibility.

I can't add arbitrary Z39.50 servers as copy cataloguing sources.Need to submit a support case with the details and confirmation from the source that they would like to be added to Ex Libris's master list of sources.Oh and actually SRU only, no support for Z39.50 sources.Wow this is such an improvement over our current library system :(

While I'm used to people uploading PDFs to a web site for things like policies, when it should just be another web page, I FLIPPED OUT today when I saw someone linked to a Google Doc they had created instead of creating just another web page.

@scolobb @pluralistic If you're into audiobooks, I highly recommend the audio versions of Homeland and Attack Surface (the remaining two books in the trilogy). Great, relevant writing + superb narration: what a treat for the mind!

@TrechNex As someone who has been contributing $$ regularly to Mozilla, I was surprised and disappointed by the tweet. I want to support an alternative to the Chromium/WebKit hegemony, and many of their other initiatives have been well-grounded ethically. But this was one hell of a head scratcher.

Well, the plague finally got me.I've masked everywhere for the past 2.5 years. My wife and kids have been masking everywhere. We've avoided indoor events involving eating or drinking. But my daughter teaches swimming lessons, where masking can't happen, and inevitably some kid coughed or sneezed into my daughter's face, and now we're all symptomatic, and I've tested hella-positive.Damn it.

Four days ago I contacted OCLC and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) to tell them that the Z39.50 server for Canada's national union catalogue (Voilà) has been corrupting every MARC record it transmits since at least October.1st response from OCLC was "You're not allowed to use that for copy cataloguing, you have to have a full Worldcat subscription!"🙄
