@joel Given that I own a keyboard case, I'll probably never use this case (it is hard to hold).I removed the pi from my printer, and I plan on using my PinePhone for all future prints (I'm not printing that often nor for a long period of time)

@calebccff I think it is odd, that the "Emergency mode" button is still visible in "Aeroplane mode". (/e/OS). I did not test if it works, or what happens if I dial a number - maybe they disable airplane mode the second I dial - or maybe I'm still partially connected, but my phone won't send any data?

@jrballesteros05 My phone is running /e/OS (the OS on the murena phones) and my bank apps fork fine (/e/OS ships with microG by default).If you are in europe, you might want to checkout https://volla.online, they sell their VollaPhone (rebranded Gigaset, with multiboot capabilities, UT support, and VollaOS their own LineageOS fork)

@jrballesteros05 The VollaPhone is kind of expensive though, given that you could just buy the gigaset base model and use the UT installer to flash VollaOs (against their EULA), UT, SailfishOS or /e/OS (using the easy-installer)

@jrballesteros05 Obviously not encouraging you to go the cheap route, as buying the original supports Volla and UT. But if you are tight on money (e.g. a student) it might be easier.

@jrballesteros05 The gigaset base model cost about 170€ (I think) and is officially supported by /e/OS/ (/e/OS does not officially support the volla phone).But I totally agree, I'd like to daily drive my pinephone - unfortunately the german banking system requires me to use a TAN application.

@textovervideo What do you mean with “preinstalled”? There is no onboard storage, sou you would have to plug in a SD-card.But I think 4gb of RAM should be enough for light tasks. Just keep in mind, that it is an ARM computer.

@ChrisWere Sounds like a smart idea - I'm kind of preoccupied with Ubuntu being bloated, which is why I recommended Linux Mint or an arch-based distro to my friend.

@Tay0 Whilst I think that it is easier to manage a small instance, e.g. for family and friends, or a university instance,this makes socialising harder.I get that we have the Federated feed, but checking the local feed is way easier.And until we add a method of viewing the local timeline of remote instances, it will remain easier to interact with others.

I just set up @tblock on my laptopand started netcat on port 443 (not an actual measurement).After using my laptop for about 2 hours (I'm using uBlock Origin in Firefox), tblock already blocked a couple of pagead2 Google Ads.
