Which is the best #linux distro for beginner Linux users (with some prior experience, e.g. Raspberry Pi)?I suppose Ubuntu or arch-based distros – but which distro in particular?

@comcloudway Ubuntu isn't a bad starting off point. Once you work out what you like and don't like about Ubuntu, you might have a better idea about the specifics you want in a distro. Or, of course, you might just enjoy Ubuntu and stick with it.

@ChrisWere Sounds like a smart idea - I'm kind of preoccupied with Ubuntu being bloated, which is why I recommended Linux Mint or an arch-based distro to my friend.

@comcloudway I often put people on the Linux Mint, where they tend to be pretty happy.

@ChrisWere @comcloudway I would recommend Mint or even LMDE maybe more. If you are a beginner but intend to dive deeper rather than me a casual user then Ubuntu will just become more and more frustrating to use over time.Once I got familiar with Ubuntu after years of Mandrake and SuSe I eventually ended up switching to regular Debian because of the silly half baked reinventions of the wheel like upstart, unity and snaps that, even if they eventually stabilise, never find significant adoption beyond Ubuntu.
