Just heard that world renowned fraud Erich von Däniken died, age 90.My mom was a big fan in the past and I read a few books of his in my childhood. Amusing stories, but they of course don't hold up to any scrutiny.He won't be missed.

These stories keep being repeated, for many years now. Transitioning the Global South by slapping solar panels on people's roofs and calling it a day clearly doesn't work. Op 15 december 2021 werden in de media de plannen aangekondigd van het kersverse kabinet Rutte IV, waaronder het plan om twee kerncentrales te bouwen.Vandaag zijn we 49 maanden verder en twee kabinetten. Er is nog geen schop in de grond gezet. Er is niet eens een definitieve keuze gemaakt over welke reactor we gaan bouwen, de Amerikaanse AP1000 of the Europese EPR (ik had een jaar geleden al voorspeld dat het de EPR zou gaan worden, een voorspelling waar ik steeds meer achter sta gezien de ontwikkelingen met het Trump regime).Ter vergelijking: PZEM besluit begin 1969 een kerncentrale te bouwen in Borssele. Ik ben nog steeds voor windenergie op zee. Want het is een manier om energie op te wekken met een lage (indirecte) CO2 uitstoot. Maar lieve mensen, laten we stoppen met elkaar wijsmaken dat het zo vre-se-lijk goedkoop is. Het maximale tenderbedrag per opgewekte megawattuur (MWh) energie is €104. @rolle Wow, I'm surprised it is even possible to run your own ATProto stack. At what cost though? Last time I checked, you needed terabytes of storage, and I imagine it has gotten exponentially worse.What are we looking at, hundreds of Euros a month?

Seeking a 20 year extension for Sizewell B is the least they could do. It is now slated to close in 2035, after just 40 years. Knowing these PWR reactors can run for at least 80 years, it would be absurd to close it already after just 40!
