       The decentralized social media movement chose the path of reboot with #bluesky. Roll out a new protocol capable of decentralization but not decentralized yet...so normies would know where to join, search could be simple and there wouldn't be different implementations leading to stuff not working perfectly.But with more stuff being built on #ATproto, that honeymoon is ending. It's going to have the same problems that the fedi does.We must accept complexity and educate instead.#SocialWeb

       @wjmaggos in addition running your own ATProto stack is significantly more complex compared to running a Mastodon instance.

       @collectifission yep. it's kinda weird now because I want lots of AT stuff to exist only to show that their "solutions" solved nothing. the lack of real decentralization is what provided that better experience. but until that stuff exists (and they're no longer running on VC), what you said and similar arguments fall flat with most people.before they rolled out AT, AP had been proven. imperfect but known. they could have worked on it instead of learning the imperfections of something new.
