@comrade_lecter @support_ex_offenders I wouldn't necessarily define religion as chosen. I'm atheist, and I have, in the past, actively attempted to change that. It failed, I could not make myself believe something I knew to be false. It is only controllable in a small portion of the population. I know people who went from religious to atheist, however that is not something they voluntarily chose, at least in the case of those I've met (including my mother). It was more being re-educated and realizing they were incorrect.

@comrade_lecter @support_ex_offenders If someone was forced to offend, I wouldn't consider them an ex-offender, personally. I would consider that person personally oppressed by the law in general, however the post said "ex-offenders," not specific ex-offenders.And did you actively decide "I am going to be x religion," or did it just happen? /Gen

@comrade_lecter @support_ex_offenders I define offender not just as someone who has committed an offense (outside out of legal terms), but as someone who chose to do something sexually harmful to a child/children. And even if you were consciously searching for something other than atheism, doing research and finding which religion was most sensible to you isn't exactly a choice.

@comrade_lecter @support_ex_offenders I still think it is an immoral act, however the blame should not be placed on whoever was coerced and rather on the person who did the coercing. If anything, I'd consider the person who was coerced a second victim. Being forced to do sexual acts is (generally) traumatizing, whether the other party was consenting or not.

@comrade_lecter @support_ex_offenders Possibly, however this is not one of those cases. Would you consider someone a rapist if, while unconscious, they were physically moved and forced to do sexual acts?In neither severe manipulation nor physical force are they the one in control.
