I really don't get it when people say "the internet isn't reality". Who do you think you're talking to, video game characters? I'm just as real as you are.

@comrade_lecter I always interpreted it to mean anyone can lie on the internet, however if that is the intent it's very poorly phrased.

@comrade_lecter Yeah, it's bit weird phrasing. And I feel like it depends on the space a lot. Like nnia feels like people are their genuine selves here and you get a pretty balanced and realistic view of life. But if you think of a lot of normie social media, especially influencers, they are more like brands than real people. They obviously show a carefully curated version of their life, and some even mislead or lie. So it gives people a very unrealistic view, when not even the influencers actually live the perfect life like they seem to.

@comrade_lecter well this version of me is very honest, but there's another version of me out on fedi that's also pretty honest in a way, and they don't always agree.but like, neither of those people are the same me I have offline either. so in a way I see it as a reality, but not quite the same one I live most of my life in.
