@rigo @sl007 @rhiaro @redaktor if the EU wants my help on ActivityPub, they would get in touch with me privately and buy the help. That hasn’t happened, so I assumed they didn’t want help or they’d be fine doing their own self-determination

@rysiek @Azure @atomicpoet DAOs can pub activities in JSONLD too. See “activity log” https://daostar.one/EIPMaybe some DAOs are already a part of the fedi, even if bullshit. I wondered if that might be in line with the plurality on the fediverse it seemed you were evangelizing. Sometimes people say fedi is bullshit, so idk if it is constructive or strategic to label other things that way, especially the parts of web5 that use W3C TRs

Its whole point is to use some new W3C standards, add a few more open standards, and totally not depend on blockchains at all. What’s your beef with it? @fosstodon @ashfurrow would anyone affected be interested in an activitypub extension for using DIDs to maintain their social identifier when things like this happen? We can make it so if your server goes down you can “migrate” to another without having to rebuild your followers cuz you’ll have the same DID

While many activitypub servers host many usernames under the same domain and support resolution via webfinger, not all need to. In fact, activitypub actors dont need usernames at all, and activitypub spec does not say anything about webfinger. https://github.com/michaelcpuckett/activitypub-core/pull/7

@J12t @blaine @ben exactly. This is why global username registries are a bad idea. It seems like it might be good UX but in practice with hoarding it is only good UX for early adopters or people that can afford to acquire names.Federated namespaces are better, but not best. Pet names (ie your contacts list) are better.
