sorry to beat a dead horse (?) but did you know this @Suiseiseki ? have you seen this in action and how it affects the whole system? because it's crazy I haven't read a single article on it before myself. It worked though, the hate was so strong and the throttling so bad that I wiped the entire disc with Mint Linux (now with MX Linux because is the best Linux).

@Suiseiseki I didn't have the problem of CPU throttling with Windows 10 -if you did read some of my posts in the past, you know I am working with Docker and openLDAP at many... I don't know how to say it at this point, I was going to use the word layers but sounds so dumb.... anyways my point is that I didn't feel any throttling. Please don't troll me about this because it's regarding my job; it sucked having to do a lot of overtime because of the disaster is Windows 11 and most people I know IRL says it's the same as Windows 10. It's not the same.

@nigger oh I wouldn't have tried to render any X11 app on Windows never ever. Like, I don't even want to imagine how much must suck that code, which somehow you say it works (even with "normies" DEs, that's a fuck up already).Using the a hardware virtualized terminal though sounded more reliable. And it certainly was reliable -I am sure it used 3-6x or something like that the memory it uses on raw Linux, but it was enough for me to work with an open browser on the other monitor. After finishing work, I would close it and got my memory back to do other things, and yes, sometimes I needed to reboot because that memory garbage collector wouldn't work properly, but it was like 1/3 of times. But using any X11 app on Windows, no dood, I won't touch that. They probably won't fix it and prefer working on JS (or TS) because they are gay (no offense to gay people) and prefer working on that rather than raw C which is X.

@sally @Suiseiseki I couldn't disable fuckling "efficiency mode", the green leaf W11 automatically applies to group of process that it determines (how? nobody have a fucking idea) it's using "too much CPU" (I don't remember it applied also to RAM).It's to reduce the carbon emissions bro, don't you want to save the planet?

@Suiseiseki @takao @ube wait, so Darwin was UNIX free to download at the time? or this was before Apple paid for this license you say? I'm just curious if you know why they stopped giving it away, although maybe just was Apple being Apple.

Good morning, today it's Tuesday, and I keep getting hardware issues related to different things; you see, I use two monitors, the first one, a HDMI LED from 2 years ago, and a VGA to DVI (via an adapter) LCD from 13 years ago (it was the one my dad used, not a bad monitor believe me). It always worked fine as second monitor, for years. The last time it worked was yesterday night that I decided to use the sleep mode from MX Linux for the first time (instead of shutting down the PC); I got used to not reboot the computer on Linux unless there was a kernel upgrade. This morning, after waking up the computer pressing a key, the second monitor didn't do anything. I tried what I think should be an easy way to know if it's working, disconnect and connect the power cable. Nothing, not even the searching signal or no signal or the little blue light on the power button. I found many results of this problem happening, but not going to sleep mode literally killing the monitor. I don't know what else to do.Now 3 hardware components in some way or another stopped being usable after erasing Windows 11 and going back to Linux. I really wish it would be a skill issue.I also find extremely strange and I doubt it's a coincidence that the last time the monitor worked was before going sleep mode.

I bought this one. Less space but the seller told me this would outlive the ADATA (8 months) for sure, and even my 3 years old Kingston. I have seen the brand but I have no idea explicitly on SSD.

@Suiseiseki I bought new power cables, the monitor won't turn on. I was told either to start shutting down the computer when going to sleep at night (I got used for decades to leave it on sleep mode) or buy a power stabilizer + an UPS in case the electricity company sends too much or too low voltage...

@Suiseiseki I read it all yesterday, but since I didn't reply, I wanted to thank you for your usual help suiseiseki; I'll continue using sleep mode then.I have one more question, as my cousin told me "all SATA disks from the last 5 years are SATA III", how likely is this true? I thought I should be able to check this with smartctl but cannot find the attribute.

@Suiseiseki @EdBoatConnoisseur I'm not used to try to repair some PC parts -or rather, I'm only used trying to repair very very few computer parts, like networking related stuff, cables, switches and some old networking cards (yes I'm old). The monitor I'm trying to replace *should* be cheap to replace, although for now I didn't have luck; although I'm getting used to work and do everything else using a single monitor, I miss a second monitor to have *something* playing, since I don't own a TV.One question though, I still have plugged in both to the power and to the DVI port (although the monitor it's a VGA it connects via an adapter I bough), and by chance I booted up a new distro called KAoS (nevermind the name, it was just because it came with the latest Ladybird and I wanted to try it); the point is that it detected that I had two monitors. I thought the DVI port would shown something is connected, so I tried disconnecting the monitor from the power, and it detected there was no second monitor anymore. I plugged in the monitor to the electricity again, and it recognized it.It's me being ignorant, or if the monitor stopped working it shouldn't be recognized at all, connected or not? About the SSD disks bandwidth (or speed?), I was using the wrong device because I forgot I changed the SATA cables position:$ sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep -i 'SATA'SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s)168 SATA_Phy_Error_Count 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 0199 SATA_CRC_Error_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 0okasion@tictac:~$ sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdb | grep -i 'SATA'SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s)It seems both SATA disks have the same bandwidth.Last question, is this 6.0gb/s bandwidth or speed?PS: sharing this picture from when I still had no table to put the monitor on my left (so it was on the right) because it's best one that shows it.Thanks in advance for the replies gentleman.

@Suiseiseki @nicholas @sjb me feels it was in the Compiz era - we believed there was no way Windows could make something as advanced like that, and vanilla Compiz was just the start. Sadly they forked it in what Beryl was, a ton of non sense 70% useless 3D rendering for (still) X11 at that time.I know some people that still uses vanilla Compiz because it's the one with the least effects, it comes with the most useful ones only. I even used it at work, the rotating cube thing was really comfy for one monitor.

Can't sleep because I keep thinking all the work it takes to implement SSL/TLS in my openLDAP container project, document the steps, and automatize via a ENTRYPOINT script in the dockerfile.I'm gonna die so early at this rate guys.

Worked from 3.30am to 8.30am, those who read my previous post from, I made it, STARTTLS/389 and SSL/636 needed to connect to ldapdock... but at what price? I'm exhausted, after I got it to work real nice, I had to document almost all step by step in the INSTALL.md of the git so others can reproduce it later, and I automatize everything into an ENTRYPOINT script (later)... and the day it's just starting for normal people, by chance catched my workmate (or "boss" at this point), told him what I did and send it a screenshot, all I got back was "oh SSL, beautiful" "sorry I have to go now". :comeonboy1::comeonboy2: :comeonboy3::comeonboy4:

@Suiseiseki @EdBoatConnoisseur look what a lovely monitor I was able to got for around $15, it's the perfect size for what I need, except for... it stopped working! When I plugged it in, a little blue light appeared on the power buttom, bottom right, and later it began working, but with blinking (not the right term probably) vertical lines all over; since I didn't know the maximum resolution (XFCE would let me change to 1080p) I only tried the "classical" old ones, 1024x768, 800x600, etc.Because I didn't know what to do, I tried to power it off, it took some time until I realized it was neccesary to maintain the power button. And it never powered on again. I tried 2 different VGA cables and 2 plugs to connect different.I was told the DVI->VGA adaptor that I have might be harming the monitor (the motherboard has a HDMI and a DVI output for 2 monitors), and these monitors have VGA input. Please help me guys, tell me things to try before saying that it's dead....I'm so tired of this....
