A 2021 PC won't upgrade to Windows 11 but I'm plugging the new one into a monitor that says "Works with Windows Vista" and has a VGA port. Still works fine.

@Suiseiseki @nicholas @sjb me feels it was in the Compiz era - we believed there was no way Windows could make something as advanced like that, and vanilla Compiz was just the start. Sadly they forked it in what Beryl was, a ton of non sense 70% useless 3D rendering for (still) X11 at that time.I know some people that still uses vanilla Compiz because it's the one with the least effects, it comes with the most useful ones only. I even used it at work, the rotating cube thing was really comfy for one monitor.
