Not sure why they specify that only _some_ of the signatories wanted to mention the hostages. Why this is controversial?A call to free all hostages, POW, and political prisoners on all sides would be simpler, more straightforward, and more in keeping with the values of international solidarity and peace. This is especially true given all the Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails without due process, sometimes under British era administrative (indefinite) detention on secret charges.

It's really upsetting that I will not be able to attend any communal Holocaust Memorial Day eventsāthe mainstream events will contain even more sanctimonious racist garbage than usual; and based on previous experience, I doubt that I'll be welcome at any of the leftie countercultural events (if they even bothered to organize any) with my beard, yarmulke, and babies. I feel very isolated. I'll probably just sit at home and play some music or something. Maybe I'll write.

@futurebird yeah. I'm a non citizen Permanent Resident, and because of inordinate delays at the Immigration service I don't even have an unexpired greencard. I'm in the process of working out what country I'd prefer to end up in if I'm threatened with deportation, how to identify the right moment to leave before ICE gets directly involved, and making sure I have traveling documents.@mybarkingdogs

I'm not going to become a #Zionist no matter what, but I am having to accept that many (most? @futurebirdI had only been in the US for 1.5-2 years back then. I was actually canvassing for that election, on a work permit. Which was uh problematic with a Russian accent lol... The fact that "community organizer" wasn't a compliment went entirely over my head. Until just now.

@futurebirdI think that there are people for whom to admit that they don't know something is nothing but a sign of weakness. So they can't. If you ask them a question to which they don't know an answer they wil immediately pull something out of their ass, no matter how incredible. Because to say "I don't know" is something a loser would do, or something.

We have a school system that empowers and incentivizes discipline over teaching, unfortunately. No wonder, since it evolved from some 19th century Prussian nonsense
