I can't get the white people in my life to understand or appreciate the boondocks, so instead I'm reading through the comic strip from beginning to end. It's so good. Also huey insisting that jazmine is black really feels good and affirming as a light skinned mixed race person. I don't strongly relate to her feelings of not belonging, but I know my dad did, and I know that's why he always made sure I knew we were black. But I've never felt rejected by black people irl (internet people are all kinds of ways) and its always been more comfy to identify as black because white people still don't understand me completely and still treat my hair like a novelty and still say racist things right in front of me thinking I'm white! So I always make sure to let people know I'm black when I get the chance. But I do relate to not knowing how to have nice hair. To cringing a bit when people refer to your hair as an afro when that wasn't what you were going for. To trying to conform to white beauty standards.

@comrade_lecter I just find them dangerous.Would rather create distance before it becomes a problem.I thought this a long time ago about chronic, their anarchist arc gave me hope but, it's flimsy imo. It's just time to step back.Hate doesn't describe my position on them but, I can definitely understand why others feel that way.

@theholyrodent in addition to the other things said, at least for nnia.space, it's not just a map community, we include all kinds of non-normative identities including other paraphilias and anything else that's not currently accepted and supported within mainstream culture, as long as those people can still be allies with maps and other such identities, and that creates some overlap with pediverse and other communities.

@LoliLover I mean, I like it, and your perspective on this, but we can make a word that means love of children with whatever etymology we want (or none, none is valid too) but pedophile is derived from paraphile. Para in this context means "beyond" or "outside of". The clinicians who dreamed up this word were trying to say pedophilia is "not love" and in fact only recognized hetero marriages with vanilla sexual practices as "love" in the sense they were using it.

@comrade_lecter that makes so much sense and definitely explains why there's no info in normal search results. I see people mention it from time to time and always thought "oh crust goblin, that's me!" (Because I eat bits of food people don't want, often crusts) But never bothered to ask until now.

@comrade_lecter also, as big a part of me as pedophilia is, don't reduce yourself to one thing by claiming to have a purpose. You're not here for some specific reason. You just do exist and you can do lots of things. There's a child I've been spending time with. Sometimes I make them unhappy. Because I think it's the right thing to do, or because my needs and feelings matter to or because they want something unreasonable from me. They're still quite fond of me it seems. So try to remember that your feelings matter too.
