       @Phil @TonyStark You said no one is pushing to ban books on slavery, the Holocaust, or history, but they absolutely are. Yes, there was one district in TN that I know of that banned Maus, but someone pushed for that. Beloved was also banned in at least one district, and there hundreds of others, including books on the Holocaust, slavery, and history.        @jeffjarvis People who believe this don't know how to read a death certificate.I've covered this extensively. The right claims Covid is not a factor in deaths of people who were already sick when it absolutely is. Many could have lived years longer if not for Covid.  They're trying to say if a person dies in a car crash and has Covid, authorities claim Covid killed them, which is absolutely false. I can't figure out what Republicans think they gain from this disinformation.

       @CitizenWald @FlintDibble Good advice. I used AI to create test images for a couple of projects I'm working on. In some cases it worked fine, but it took a lot of tries to get it right. In another it was far, far off. The terrain and animals  werd decent, but the people in the images looked like some kind of aliens -- weird hands, face mixed up, clothing inaccurate, etc.

       @futurebird @jgordon I hope they're taking plenty of precautions. My adult son plays online games with people all over the world. He's learned that to be truly safe you would need a dedicated computer set up with a fake name and using a mobile  connection from various locations other than your home. Proxy servers and fake accounts aren't enough to protect your identity if you are connected often or for a long period of time.

       @mekkaokereke I think you're right. The school district here is 99% white, but it is also one of the poorest in the US. Free breakfasts, lunches, summer feeding programs absolutely work.  Bail reform here was good when it first passed, getting rid of bail bondsman, but has since been corrupted to let even those who are a danger get out of jail free. Teachers and authority figures of all kinds should be actively anti-racist. Sadly, that's not the case. Cops should not be school disciplinarians.
