@carolen @BILLSan345 @Flick @HebrideanHecate Thanks! Tried the gym but felt quite lost and confused. Might go back when I've built up a bit more confidence at home.I hope it does get addictive because right now I'm doing it all quite grudgingly. I did enjoy the high when I used to jog though, so hopefully my brain will catch on soon!

@virvallis @carolen @BILLSan345 @Flick @HebrideanHecate Good to know. There is, in theory, a supervised session for newbies but the one time I went to it there was nobody supervising! I think if I watch enough videos and then get a second induction session I will be ready to try again.

@carolen @virvallis @BILLSan345 @Flick @HebrideanHecate I spoke to the receptionist after the supervised session that wasn't. She had no idea there were even supposed to be supervised sessions! Luckily, there's 2 gyms in town so will probably try the other one next time. It's also 24 hours, which suits my night owl/ insomniac tendencies.

Sarah Porter, the woman who was bullied out of her race, has now raised 90k for Afghan women and girls. More than half of that was donated in the last 24 hours. https://www.gofundme.com/f/sarah-porter-spine-race-2026

@Flick Good luck!I give hound rabbit ears and sheep ears with the hair still on them because it's a natural wormer. I don't think there are any natural alternatives for fleas though, and once you've got them they are a nightmare to get rid of.

@benis_redux @Flick Knowing flick's dog, he'd know it was a setup and refuse to eat the slug!

@Flick Makes you wonder what goes on in their heads for a slug to be more appetising than a lovingly crafted egg/cheese/worm pill combo!

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain But why though? Apart from being bloody awful, he has already proven himself to be the kiss of death for other businesses. Is there a 'The Producers' type situation going on here?

@HebrideanHecate Do you remember a few years ago someone on Spinster was talking about setting up an 'alternative' boarding school? The accommodation was going to be very basic, possibly camping, and the teachers were all going to be sworn virgins. She came here for feedback, which was unsurprisingly negative, and then disappeared? I imagine her school to be a cross between this and Midsommar!I really hope someone else remembers this, because it was so flipping bizarre.

@HebrideanHecate That's definitely possible. I am a night owl, so often here after most UK spins have gone to bed!I really hope somebody remembers her, because typing it out had me doubting my memory/sanity.

@Flick @benis_redux @LuvGreenTea2019 Greyhounds are from the middle east/Egypt. They featured in ancient Egyptian mythology and are the only dog breed mentioned by name in the bible (proverbs 30).

@Flick @ninapaley @Gnomeshatecheese Darning looms can be addictive. I got one a while ago and ended up 'mending' things that weren't even startiing to wear a tiny bit thin!

@virvallis @HebrideanHecate I hope she feels better soon. Tooth pain makes you feel so miserable. Can the dentist who treated her prescribe some good strong painkillers?

@HebrideanHecate @virvallis yeah, don't think she's been around since before Christmas. I hope she's just doing a digital detox or something.

@Gnomeshatecheese I hope your prediction is correct because I do badly in interviews (low bullshit tolerance!) but I think I would ace it under your proposed method. The reading thing is really sad. The worst part is that teaching a kid to read (assuming no serious learning disabilities) isn't particularly difficult. I taught mine with just a library card and my common sense.

@Flick @HebrideanHecate Good to know. My current one is probably not going to last much longer, and I had resigned myself to just using the launderette as not willing to get anything 'smart' or anything that is built to only last a couple of years.

@RadicalCartoons Are you plying them? That's when you take all your strands and spin them together on the spindle. You have to spin them in the opposite direction to how you spun the original strands. Then you soak it in a nice warm bath to relax the fibres, and hang it up to dry. Drying will be very drippy, no matter how well you think you wrung it out, and will probably take a couple of days.

@Flick Sewing's cancelled then, unless you all have rubber dinghies?I feel a bit mean for being flippant. Having your house flooded is absolutely awful. I hope the water is staying outside where it belongs.
