@HamonWry During his last days in office, he pushed the execution of so many death row inmates who deserved a second chance, and now his followers think he deserves mercy? Remember when he was remarking about how they shouldn't be so careful when they put a criminal suspect in the police car? This is the guy who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans due to his ineptitude, who cost us billions if not trillions of dollars by his response to Covid. If only he could go on trial for that

If they had 8 Representatives who could get re-elected by crossing the aisle, honoring their deals and standing up for democracy, there would be hope for this Party. Now, I don’t think the GOP can exist in a democracy. At least Scalise didn’t ignore a sexual predator. Cannot believe Gym Jorden is even considered, George Santos makes more sense

Goggled the rate of inflation now and one year ago and it comes up over 8% last year and under 4% today. I’m not saying it’s great, I’m saying it’s going in the right direction because Biden is in charge and not tfg who created the conditions and wrecked the economy. Biden is no progressive’s dream, but he’s competent as a politician

Netanyahu promised to keep Israeli’s safe and used fear, much like Fox and GOP in the US, to convince voters of his appeal. That ship has sailed, current sentiment in Israel shows 74% of voters want him to resign. This attack on Palestinians to avenge the 10/7 terrorism of Hamas is barbarous and will result in more violence inside of Israel. @MaxG @claudiamiles 1/2Widespread killing on both sides but attempted extermination? No. If Hamas had the ability, I think genocide would be their goal. I think Palestinians are suffering greatly from this war, that Netanyahu’s attempt to extinguish Hamas is brutally killing innocent lives indiscriminately and is doomed to failure, but I do not see it as an active campaign to exterminate a whole people. What I see is a government fighting for its own survival against an existential threat to its existence.

Jewish people in Israel created the State after a true genocide, not tens of thousand of deaths, but six million. Arabs have been opposed to the State of Israel since 1948. Israel killing indiscriminately now is an attempt to survive, not a desire to commit genocide. If you don’t see the difference from their perspective, then you won’t be able to communicate effectively with the other side.

This is the choice that Christian Nationalist force on anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their belief system, but several years ago they outlawed teaching yoga. Religious freedom is sacrosanct, as long as it’s the one they are pushing.

@fcktheworld587 Not an uncommon issue, especially with folks even minimally on the autism spectrum (imo anyone with dyslexia, ADHD etc who is not neurotypical). Don’t know if all that is medically accurate, just my sense of it. I know people who’ve had friends since elementary school, but besides my wife and family members, I seem unable to stay connected. Since retirement it’s much more difficult to find even superficial friends, but my wife has an easier time of it.

@futurebird Another aspect of this is the way in which companies allocate resources. I worked for lots of different hospitals in my career, repairing expensive medical equipment. When the C suite folks were budgeting for a new service, they might invest millions to roll it out. They were willing to spend money on a dubious new service to bring in more money but didn’t want to invest in existing infrastructure servicing existing equipment so lots of repairs had to be done by outside contractors who charged so much more. They never saw value in saving money on repairs as equal to bringing in money from new business

@futurebird I was eager to file and get it done, not just because I have a refund coming, but also because it prevents anyone who has my info from stealing my identity and filing as me (not a big concern but not insignificant either). Mostly, though, I wanted to have it behind me because of medical issues that are pending and I don’t want to risk running out of time later being too busy with dealing with those issues. So on January 31st, the day that the IRS made 2025 free file active, I jumped in and completed it. Trouble was, my bank hadn’t sent me my 1099-int form, but I was able to add up the amounts from my statements on line for an amount. Filed the form, and the next day I received the 1099’s. I had added up my interest for my savings account correctly, but had forgot about a CD I cashed in. So I had to file an amended return, and then that had to be mailed in. Next year I’m waiting until I get my documents before filing. @Chasteen
