President Biden and the Democrats are taking serious positions on national security and domestic policy issues. I don’t agree with everything they do, and they make and have admitted to mistakes. However, Republicans have sworn allegiance to a man who attempted a coup, is facing multiple indictments on a variety of financial and national security crimes, and who continues to tell extreme numbers of lies. That allegiance has left all of us weaker and worse off. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/25/us/politics/biden-albanese-australia-israel.html?unlocked_article_code=1.5Uw.fPgC.m0FZpmsd6J06&smid=url-share

@TonyStark for the "if all you have is the lesser of two evils, choose none" crowd:that's the way it is and always will beyou can find something wrong with anyone, everyone fails ideological purity testswhat is required is not magic perfect candidate. what is required is for you to think tactically and strategically about politics and make a choice about bringing the world *closer* in alignment with your principles. not magically somehow in perfect alignment with the snap of a finger. that will never happen. politics was is and always will be messy and imperfect. grow a sober realization of the ugliness that it is, hold your nose, and choose with wisdom rather than a naive stab at perfection in your mindor don't vote or throw your vote away on folly. and watch your world get worse. and somehow imagine you had nothing to do with it and it doesn't affect you. your inflexibility en masse with others of similar thinking has everything to do with it. and it certainly affects you

@accretionist @TonyStark Good isn’t the enemy of perfect, just think how much the world would have been different if Ralph Nader wasn’t running in 2000 or Jill Stein in 2016.

@CivilityFan @accretionist @TonyStark I agree that in close states, people should vote strategically. recall that Clinton wouldn't have won without Perot either.where your presidential vote is unlikely to matter, vote your heart. cause fuck the corrupt establishment. the whole primary system sucks. what's really needed is an end to the duopoly. what they adopted in Alaska can get us there if used everywhere.https://time.com/6112318/american-democracy-final-five-voting/
