       @pmdj @david_chisnall More-or-less.The game-theoretically correct version of point 5 is to ignore how much you've invested so far, and only compare the remaining investment needed vs the reward.So it doesn't matter if the reward is worth less than the stuff you've invested so far.It's a sunken-cost-fallacy fallacy to think the more you've invested so far, the more you should keep going.It's a different fallacy to think the less you've invested so far, the more you should keep going.

       @nytpu I'm not claiming that this will fix it for all programs you have issues with or that they're even using SDL, just that Steam does weird game-engine-specific shit with controllers, and that could be affecting it in some way.

       @kevin I don't have experience maintaining a major open-source project, but the way I'm thinking is:If this is stuff I would've done anyway, as a hobby, then it doesn't matter to me if some company uses it or not.But if said company were to throw more work my way - for example opened issues about usecases I don't care about, sent overwhelming pull requests, or demanded some level of "supply chain" security, I would've told them sth like "hire me or fork the project"

       @kevin also, regarding Tom Sawyer: if someone tricked me to paint 1 meter of fence - because it's such a prestigious task that not everyone can do - and I did it, and had fun, and wasn't late for work/school/etc. because of it, then I don't see it as getting scammed.Just because I could've gotten paid for it doesn't mean doing it for free is bad for me.Also, if I don't get paid, Tom doesn't get to complain that I painted the fence badly.
