@reb Although one time a friend who didn’t know anything about cats was catsitting and put cat litter in the food bowl and the cat ran away. I guess they sorted that out, because later he called the friend whose cat it was to say that the cat was making a strange sound and should he take her to the vet? After some back and forth, it was determined that the cat was purring.

#3GoodThings• The birds who built a nest in my tent (open on one end) while I was away have continued to care for their babies even though they’re scared of the big intruder (me, making myself as nonthreatening as possible).• I’m going down to San Francisco tomorrow for an overnight trip, with hotel paid, so I can help a friend pull herself together for her granddaughter’s wedding.• Today I lay for a long time—even dozed a little—in sunlight on the forest floor, which felt like food when I didn’t know I was hungry.

@hollie @MsHearthWitch Yesterday I met two grown juveniles of my raven pair (although there might be three—or a cousin—because I heard one farther off). They shrieked for walnuts, not yet knowing my ask-nicely understanding with their parents, so NO WALNUTS FOR THEM. Then one tired but proud and patient parent came and asked nicely, so WALNUTS FOR EVERYONE. I said admiringly to the parent, “Beautiful children. Loud, though. You must be exhausted!”

No one panic: I just deleted the lemon emoji from the front of my name. I’d upped my lemon consumption in the last few months and today noticed that some of my back teeth have discolored. 😬 That’s enough lemons for me (except for special occasions)!In honor of the occasion, I will share the history of the lemon emoji on my name:Several years ago, broken, I moved back from Ireland to the US, and an aunt gave me a bag of lemons from her tree. I also made a fresh start on Twitter, and the only suitable profile pic in my phone at that moment was of the lemons. I suppose it symbolized joy from sourness. Fast-forward to Mastodon, where I added the lemon to my name as a kind of keepsake, bringing the best of the old to the new.I guess it’s time to let that go and keep only the Sun, the source of all lemons. Those old times are well and truly over. ☀️
