       Work had an all-of-IT meeting today. Our IT director, a manager, not an IT person, actually encouraged (although not really mandated) using gen"AI" to work faster and more efficiently. To clarify, I understood that wasn't meant to have "AI" develop software, but use it for making plans, managing projects, things like that, more the "soft" things. Still I think I lost most of my respect for her then.36 weeks left (if everything goes according to plan).

       @mike @BillSaysThis @anon_opin In my region kale is a typical (and beloved) hearty winter dish, cooked with onions and lard, then served with potatoes and smoked pork (belly, neck, sausages), and/or "Pinkel", which is a sausage from lard, grits, and some pork. Some even cook this all together. Ah, and mustard on the side. We *love* it.

       @azonenberg @sen In my eyes that is an allusion to the traditional etherkiller, 120 or 230 V mains to RJ45 Ethernet. Or was it BNC? I always wanted to build myself one.

       @davidculley [Tangent] 12 years ago I stumbled upon Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, then still unfinished. I found it fresh, clever, funny, and really enticing. Really clever. I liked it so much that I not only read it (and eagerly waited for the next installment), but also started a translation into German, something I always wanted to try. But the further it went, the darker and weirder it became, and finally I read it to the end only to see how he would be able to round it all up.At some point in between IIRC, I took down the web page with the no longer growing translation (made until some place in chapter 14), because I didn't want to propagate it any more. I don't think anyone had found it there anyway. Some time near finishing the reading myself I learned what E. Y. was up to otherwise, and this writing seemed to fit in an uncomfortable way.
