       @davidculley [Tangent] 12 years ago I stumbled upon Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, then still unfinished. I found it fresh, clever, funny, and really enticing. Really clever. I liked it so much that I not only read it (and eagerly waited for the next installment), but also started a translation into German, something I always wanted to try. But the further it went, the darker and weirder it became, and finally I read it to the end only to see how he would be able to round it all up.At some point in between IIRC, I took down the web page with the no longer growing translation (made until some place in chapter 14), because I didn't want to propagate it any more. I don't think anyone had found it there anyway. Some time near finishing the reading myself I learned what E. Y. was up to otherwise, and this writing seemed to fit in an uncomfortable way.

       @jyrgenn @davidculley I never made it far in that piece, and when I learnt that the author is from the same TESCREAL school of hating humanity as the fashbros who brought us AI, Palantir, Fakebook/Meta, etc. it was… still a surprise but.
