I don't care how big of a fan he is, I don't need a late night show host's fanfic. Everything Lord of the Rings related after the Jackson Return of the King movie has be utter trash. I had a few problems with the Jackson trilogy, but it's probably as close as one could get to translating the stories to film.

       I really try not to get mad about stuff like this. "It's just not for me, I'll always have the originals, etc etc" but it just seems such a spit in the face to the world Tolkien created. He spent his life crafting this world, and now people just take the things from it and use them for cash grabs and vanity projects. Things inspired by Lord of the Rings are fine, but just taking the characters and doing your own thing is as tacky as a Calvin and Hobbes pissing on *thing* bumper stickers.

       I'm getting a new dishwasher today. I'm super excited. I'm doing the install myself, which is horrifying to my family for some reason. My mom wants me to pay $250 to get it installed, but it's like, 2 tubes and an electrical line. I think I got this.

       @Zergling_man@sacred.harpy.faithMight need to buy a bit or two, but everything is threaded or using hose clamps. I’ve done some light plumbing before and this looks like one of the easier jobs.

       Dammit, I'm going to have to mess with keyboard input settings again aren't I? I've got Japanese input pretty well sorted, but that kind of sucked and I need to keep 2 different keyboard layouts in my head.

       @Zergling_man I've got a Japanese keyboard (' on the 7 and @ right of p) and that's annoying enough. I'll need to fix input settings and keyboard layouts on a regular basis. Super annoying. I don't use direct input because it doesn't seem much faster than what I know and I think my brain only has room for like 4 keyboard/input layouts.

       @Zergling_man I don't even know anymore.  I'd have to reboot to check. On linux, there seem to be lots of moving parts and I am not a clever man. I really only use Japanese input for rare dictionary lookups. I have the most useless Japanese knowledge anyway. I can muddle through some NHK easy news articles and that's about it.

       My meshcore repeater is set up and repeating now. Admin is a little clunky, but I shouldn't need to mess with it much now. It's really fun watching lasers get fired and reflected off it on the local map.
