hi chat, have a situation here that I'd like more info on and perhaps someone here knows a little morebasically, there's someone I know that has German citizenship, but hasn't lived in Germany for a majority of their life, and just moved here, not quite 18 yet. How's health insurance work in that situation?AFAIK one would usually be insured through family, but family is in another country and not registered with any German insurance (AFAIK) so that's obviously not it

the guy making the rounds rn as far as I'm aware isn't involved in the project at all and exclusively speaks LLMFor the record, having checked the day 2 livestream, it seems the reason there's a planned systemd dependency is for having systemd enforce the sandbox. Also mounting systemd services into sandboxes for...some reason? Also "centralized identity and permission storage"...is Flatpak's interface not centralized enough? All using a daemon they'll develop called "systemd-appd" Why didn't they just, idk, make that daemon separate from systemd, or use Syd or something? idk!Oh, right, depending on upstream Systemd also introduces more moving parts into Flatpak that will hinder adoption of any and all of these improvements on slower-moving distros, even if they were to package hypothetical flatpak-next.overall idk how thought-out this actually is

@gavi I mean, yes, but also this is a phenomenon of language and how it evolves that has been observed for a long time with all kinds of wordsI'm a bit torn about it because it hasn't been used to refer to anything medical for some time now, neither do the majority use it to actually mean any harm. Kind of like the origin behind words like "idiot" which can still be hurtful but are far removed from their origins by this point.

@star please do not fall into the same trap that literally all of my friends that own a framework did.The way we like to describe it, the reason framework is repairable is because things will be breaking a lot randomly for absolutely no reason while running hot as shit.Sure, this is a laptop that isn't out yet, but this has been pretty consistent with their past releases. Disregarding the fact, of course, that they fund an actual racist, while not giving a penny to projects that are literally on their website, like Krita.

@star and before you say it, I'm not bringing up the racism because all other companies are perfect. I'm bringing it up because framework positions themselves as an morally better alternative*, while quadrupling down on supporting this racist.* after all, they are a big proponent of the right to repair movement, which is fundamentally about the morals of not allowing you to own and repair your devices.

@star But regardless of all that, you're paying a pretty hefty price tag for a device that continues to have design defects and common issues that aren't fixed with later revisions. Like the overheating problems, like the terrible fan curves, like the fact that things constantly break from no reason.
