Saw a photo of via ferrata on my timeline and remembered that one time when we decided to get to the top of Katzenkopf mountain nearGarmisch-Partenkirchen. We just followed OSM and found ourselves on via ferrata for the last ~300m of altitude, but back then we didn't yet know what via ferrata is, so we just climbed further using it as aid, in casual clothes with no gear (luckily we made it).Oh how have the tables turned! (The cat is now climbing on _our_ heads during the night)

Cannot believe AfD is not the governing party in Sachsen Anhalt (yet) because AfD+BSW coalition hit the dead end: while BSW is against building the new weapons factory in SA which is supposed to supply arms to Israel, because while BSW is very pro-Israel, it thinks that Israel has maybe went a bit too far against Gaza; but AfD is for building that weapons factory because then they'll be able to use these weapons for mass deportations 🤡Meanwhile, here in Berlin, Die Heimat is on the ballot today.

@ifixcoinops looks like there are parts missing on DVD too?I think this technology was used quite often in the past: roughly speaking, shoot in e.g. 16:9, considering that everything should fit in a smaller 16:9 rectangle; then for cinema, crop it to 2.35:1, and for home video (which back then meant 4:3 TVs) crop to 4:3. Also for fancier productions, cropping doesn't have to always be in the center, in different scenes it can be more to the left or to the right (for TV crops) or to the bottom of to the top (for cinema crops), depending on the scene content / on where the important stuff is in it (to center the important stuff).So the entire picture only exists on the original film (which also might have some extra stuff in it, like shooting equipment etc), and I assume that for modern home releases they just scan the cinema release because the TV release also misses a lot and probably doesn't exist on film but only in 480p form

I voted! (Decided to vote for Tierschutzpartei in local elections after all, there is only 3% hurdle in local elections and in our district they might clear it; and this country needs a wider and more diverse selection of parties that are both electable and (at least on the surface) decent. In the city elections, beide Stimme Linke.)

This Bärlauch kimchi turned out to be really good, I wish we knew this a few years ago, instead of just before foraging our last Bärlauch ever.Let's hope there will be some nice foraging options close to our next home as well... (don't think we'll be going to the greener parts of the country very often, even when/if they finish building the Euskal Y, and definitely not for frivolities like Bärlauch)

@some how much in advance are you looking?AFAIK SNCF's KPIs are now: average load of trains (the higher the better; or, which is the same, average percentage of free seats, the lower the better); and percentage of trains that run with zero free seats (the higher the better; or, which is the same, percentage of trains that still have unsold seats on departure). This is considered to be "efficient", as opposed to inefficiently running half-empty trains.Correspondingly, SNCF cut a lot of services that didn't have enough demand, and even those that did have enough demand but it's better to run one train at 100% load than two trains at 80% load.And this means that when you buy tickets the same time in advance as you would in 2019, the higher percentage of seats on that train is sold by this point, and therefore the higher dynamic prices you get.
