@HebrideanHecate @virvallis @LadyMont It does. Runners high is real and quite addictive. But surely the organisers could have foreseen this and either changed the date or held the marathon late in the evening/early in the morning when the temperatures are not so hellish? I don't run anymore, but when I did I used to wait until at least 11pm at this time of year because getting heatstroke/passing out on the towpath do not sound like fun.

@Flick @HebrideanHecate @virvallis @LadyMont No, but it seems a bit mad to me that they are scheduled for the summer months in the first place.Maybe it's just because I am terrible at dealing with the heat. I always hated doing PE outdoors in the summer. Who wants to run around getting even more hot and sweaty when you're already hot and sweaty to begin with? Summer sports should be swimming, or stuff you can do inside with shade and air conditioning!

@LadyMont @Flick @HebrideanHecate @virvallis Do people in the Netherlands run marathons in fancy dress? You see quite a lot of that in the London marathon and I always wonder how they cope with the heat and discomfort even when the weather's cool!

@Sherri_Ingrey @HebrideanHecate @virvallis @LadyMont I wonder why some people get it and others don't. I was never particularly fast, but I remember getting to the end of a 5k, especially on a nice evening with a pretty sunset, and feeling invincible! I truly felt like I would be able to just keep on running forever. Made the preceding 40 minutes of puffing, panting and sweating worthwhile!

@Flick WTF?Natural childbirth is great, if all is going well and if the woman chooses it. Forcing natural births on women who don't want them is fucking barbaric, even if the baby comes out safely. I had a drug free homebirth with my youngest, but I also had 4 ampules of pethidine on the mantlepiece in case I changed my mind! Knowing they were available whenever I wanted them made everything else bearable. My mum was high as a kite when she delivered me. No idea what that did to the bubble, but we bonded just fine!

@LadyMont If her goal was to look like the long lost twin sister of Rick Sanchez, then good job!Read somewhere (might even have been here) that hair removal is partially to blame for the fact that women tend to suffer worse burns in housefires than men do, which is fucking horrifying.

@LadyMont I know bugger all about this breed, so might be way off here, but the fact that it's called a hunting dog would have rung alarm bells for me. Dogs that have been bred to work can easily go a bit insane if they're cooped up in the house most of the day. Hunting dogs need to chase small squeaky things. A toddler is, essentially, a small squeaky thing!
