@poopernova @Ronnie21093 It only took nearly a decade, and the failure of a major project meant to bring in billions, but hey Destiny 2 players will finally be able to play the game. The actual game, not just whatever tiny chunk of the game is currently implemented. :cirno_laugh:

They're going to fuck it up by making the vaulted content a new DLC pack without honouring the people who purchased the DLC originally.Pls buy the dlc we deleted again pleb and they'll lose all goodwill but the consumers will buy it anyways.:laugh_evil: it just feels like a monkey's paw.

"People who want to play FPS multiplayer shooters" is absurdly broad. The guy playing Halo CE modded is nowhere near the same as the guy playing CoD Warzone, and they're both insanely far removed from the guy who plays Doom WADs, but Bungie just bundled them all together and assumed it'd make infinite money. I only give them this tiny crumb of credit while insulting them because I have seen what a game for an actual non-existent demographic looks like, in the Saints Row reboot. That game's demographic only exists in the mind of a board room conflating 200 different markets and a ton of failed advertising campaign to target a guy who could not possibly exist.

@Iffine @Ronnie21093 @poopernova i mean i think trying to supposedly create an extraction shooter for casual players is a bit oxymoronicthough i genuinely think with the right direction marathon could have been successful enough to rival something like huntdestiny/marathon has some of the best feeling movement and gunplay of any shooter, they just have to surround that with something that people actually want to engage with :chocola_wha:

Things like PvPvE, economies, restricting lifelines to mostly the top tier players who will destroy you and remove your motivation to keep playing, and of course the live service model. I think the idea could do well if it just had more reason to even bother getting into it. Let players play it offline, give a proper singleplayer with some story that isn't just some shitty online events. You know things are insane when one of the most casual-friendly extraction shooters out there is Modern Warfare Zombies, which is generally regarded as a terrible mode (and required owning a pretty bad game to even play). Actually, now that I think about it, a casual extraction shooter would just be Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2. You drop in, get resources, and get out. Except, those games have no progression because they explicitly want people to be able to just jump in and have fun with friends, which is exactly the perfect sort of flow you'd need. But then, none of this matters because the point of making battle royales or extraction shooters isn't to make a game people will love. It's about money. Fortnite makes infinite money, CoD makes infinite money, why not also try to make infinite money? The target market was a tertiary thought at best compared to how much money a live service extraction shooter could make. If something like progression was removed for more simple gameplay, how would they implement the battle pass? Bungie probably just assumed that all players who play FPS or TPS games with live service elements would flock over, and didn't consider how absolutely brain-dead of an concept that is.
