       @cks I've run 'terminator' 'mate-terminal' and 'xfce4-terminal' - they're all pretty light, will all run on X, seem to do unicode but I'm not sure I've tried anything too heavy.

       @cks Both terminator and mate-terminal seem to be happy with the emoji type unicode at least without me having to do anything special:

       @penguin42 @cks looks like they're all built on vte3, so basically the core terminal emulation code should be the same as wtih gnome-terminal, just a different UI around it

       @wolf480pl @cks Yeh I suspect that's right; the defaults of how they're set up are reasonable to me, and the UI is a good old basic terminal (with some tab options if that's your thing).
