First, I find it funny how the New Classic version of Flan’s theme has specific notes from ZUN that he wanted to downplay the insanity that people often portray her with. Really weird contradiction here now even within the game.That aside, I think I know the source of why the dialogue with Flan was changed, but the problem is it makes no sense in Classic. In New Classic however, there’s conditions to unlock special brand new content within the extra stage. That is content the classic version doesn’t have and thus this dialogue cannot be resolved.

This guy is bullshitting on the Flandre point (which doesn't surprise me since one of his reply chains on those posts is talking about how Touhou is somehow an immigration apologist franchise with AFiEU, and also about how much he thinks the series went downhill after HSiFS). She does have more dialogue after the fact that's more playful. The fact he even saw this dialogue means he knows that. Fun fact also, the dialogue is unchanged if you don't trigger the special condition for the bonus content. He's complaining about new content being new. :cirno_doubt: It didn't censor a damn thing. Nor did it character assassinate. Both exist simultaneously in New Classic. Probably wasn't changed in classic either.

@Ronnie21093 @DrRyanSkelton @SuperSnekFriend The other two points about the stars still stand but I really don't give a shit about those myself. They're not at all important. ZUN was just using them as generic magic stuff and had Remi acting chuuni. He really didn't put em in with intent, with the exception of one minor name to a spell card. The new card name, while slightly less chuuni, is still pretty chuuni as it refers to vanity (which could be interpreted as a sin).

If you take it as a direct parallel to real life then you could vaguely say ZUN is trying to justify infinite immigration. Two problems with that, the only thing AFiEU was trying to parallel was the format of questionable journalism, and the intent of the entire thing is to not fully trust anything seen there (which is part of the reason Aya has an afterword where she stops it from being published, realizing the Lunarians might have been using her). Hecatia herself isn't saying "immigration now," she's arguing that Gensokyo cannot ever be completely closed off from all other worlds, and attempting to do so would be a mistake. Ideas and people will move through eventually, good or bad. Solving what comes from that is the focus, it's not about encouraging it. Mind this is specifically in relation to Gensokyo where you can literally walk over to the river that takes you to Hell. Not even all that long of a walk, could be there and back within the day.

@Iffine I think OP was equating the language of "other worlds" with real life nationalities and politics, when it's more likely that denizens of certain other worlds are the same species (spiritual person), race (the kind of spiritual person), and nation (Japanese spirit) as their equivalent in Gensokyo, but are associated with the world they live in because that is where their identity and power resides.It should be obvious that a Greek goddess of the underworld, already a place not like Earth's countries, speaking Japanese and talking to a Japanese tengu about Gensokyo's hierarchical philosophy versus Hell's (Hades') freedom philosophy shouldn't be equated with Jamal, Rodrigquez, or Ahmed demanding to be called American or Japanese or whatever country they are invading.
