       you have to go to the store or wait on hold or whatever to reconfigure your phone serviceI just have access to everything in a web portal and don't have to interact with anyone to reconfigure my phone servicewe are not the same

       I guess my point is, for $25ish/month I can basically do anything I want, and when I had a problem that needed debugging, the CEO personally responded to my ticket and worked it through to a fix.I respect that.  it says a lot about the company culture.

       @ariadne How does the redundant coverage work? I have have another MVNO which gives me t-mobile which is great like everywhere except this one specific campground where every major provider works except t-mobile, and I legitimately have a travel esim for when I'm there.

       @ryan you have your primary network, which has an esim, and then you pay an additional $10 for each network you want a backup esim on, which are actually separate linesthis works nicely because all three network options support wifi calling, and you can do "wifi calling" over the other active sim.

       @ariadne Ah okay thanks, I'll consider that in a year. I've got Boost (t-mobile) for my primary line ($25/mo + $10/mo for hotspot), and just started another year of "no strings attached" Spectrum (verizon) free service for a year on the secondary esim, where the string attached is you need to call them up in 11 months and scream at them until they cancel the service, and then in a year they'll offer you a free year again.

       @ariadne @ryan I've never managed to get wifi calling to work over a second SIM's data. I'm assuming that's something that needs to be properly supported by the phone.

       @ananas@ariadne I know in Poland in the early 2000s, if you got your phone from an operator on "discount" as part of 2-year contract or sth, it would be SIM-locked to that operator, and once your contract was up you could go ask the operator to unlock it. Idk if that's still a thing in 2026, I don't know of anyone getting their phones from their operator these days.

       @faoluin no ideathey do allow you to bundle starlink, but there's not any particular reason to do so (its not any cheaper than subscribing directly)I wouldn't be surprised if they were personally, but bluntly all telecoms are evil and so I would rather pay $25ish/month instead of more than $25ish/month
