       @IngaLovinde The graffiti you see in NYC today is curated. I don't think anyone enjoys random marker scribbles on the train window blocking their view OR having a building you like the way it is get some big tag on it. Although this doesn't really happen much now we do remove a tag from the back of the building every three years.Understanding exactly how and where your average NYC resident likes graffiti is important.

       @futurebird here in Berlin we have some curated murals, but also lots of random graffiti everywhere including tags and just random uncrated drawings like this one for example https://embracing.space/@IngaLovinde/116749235974910407 (one could even say "rent lowering").It's a part of the city image and the city life, some people want to get rid of them, and these are usually the same people who vote for conservative or alt right parties, and who want to get rid of store signs in Arabic in certain areas of the city (and ideally of the stores themselves and of the people who run them and of all the leftist squats and)

       @futurebird we have elections in Berlin this September, and I just saw an interview with the leftist mayor candidate (I guess she's like your Mamdani), the interview also had a couple of photos with her that looked very... Berlin-ish. Compared to the other candidates in the same series of interviews which had their photos in very clean and "professional", almost sterile, settings.(marked all as sensitive for eye contact)
