@murena "New back up" is a nice euphemism for forcing users to use Murena cloud. Seedvault worked fine for me with local backups, but it's not available any longer.My understanding of "choose freedom" is slightly different.

@hmz and @aproposnix this new backup system was implemented to make backups easier for everyone; Seedvault was complicated to use for many. It is already on our Roadmap to allow everyone to choose their own WebDAV/Nextcloud server for the backup. Until this is implemented and you have full choice again, anyone who needs a larger storage to make their backups can contact our Helpdesk for a coupon for a free storage upgrade.

@murena @hmz complicated to use? All I needed to do was plug in my usb drive and it backed up the data automatically... on my hardware, not yours! Why couldn't you have provided the option rather than just removing it. EDIT: Also, do you think setting up WebDav is easier to configure? Easier than using SeedVault? In my own experience, depending on the Webdav providers it's far more complicated.

@murena On another point, you disabled my existing voice to text engine and enabled Murena's. So when I tried to dictate a note imagine my surprise when it started downloading language file. Seriously, you guys messed up with this release. Another point, do you actually expect users who bought a phone to always go to your roadmap to understand what will be changed/removed? Most users just want to use their mobile OS. How about a message after each release warning users about future change?

@murena @aproposnix That's not the point. I don't want to use any cloud service at all, not for back up and not for password management either. I simply want the possibility to use my own storage hardware for back up purposes. That's what I've been doing for years now, and using Seedvault, this was no rocket science.

@aproposnix @hmz Once /e/OS 4.2 is released, there will be a clearer timeline for 4.3. Currently, the team is focused on the release of 4.2, which will be available at the end of August. It usually takes about two weeks or a little longer for a version to be fully released. So we can expect it to be available sometime in September.
